Ten years on from their seminal debut release `The Calling’, Solarstone (Rich Mowatt & Andrew Bury) release a double CD of their finest original moments. No fillers here, just a collection of some of the most inspired, genre-defining club monsters from the last decade.
Keeping their enormous resume of top-name remixes aside, `anthologyone’ draws together the cream of original Solarstone productions, including the club classics `Seven Cities’, `3rd Earth’, `U Write The Rules’ (as `Young Parisians’) `I Want You’ (as Z2) and `Solarcoaster’, vocal masterpieces including `Speak In Sympathy’, `Like A Waterfall’ and `Jump The Next Train’ (as Young Parisians), Blissed-out downtempo excursions including the legendary `Jabberwock’ and also no less than 5 previously unreleased tracks and rare version.
AnthologyOne is essential listening for any clubber having witnessed a sunrise in Ibiza, lost it to Oakenfold at Cream, larged it at Gatecrasher, or simply with a penchant for meticulously produced melodic dance music.
Andy Bury (formerly pirate radio dee-jay) and Rich Mowatt (former member of Indie-dance troupe Emission) hail from the Midlands and Wales respectively. They cut their teeth through the early nineties with a succession of Acid-Disco tinged hits as `Space Kittens’ on Hooj Choons.
Solarstone was conceived in 1996 with the emergence of the fledgling Trance scene. Their debut release `The Calling’ with it’s blend of breaks and melodic progressions was, according to then label boss Red Jerry at Hooj Choons `ahead of its time, and a blue print for others’. Indeed, the track still sounds fresh today, with a re-release scheduled shortly after `AnthologyOne’. Solarstone’s releases are consistently supported by A-list DJs such as Tiesto, Oakenfold (for whom they have completed half a dozen remixes), ArminVanBuuren, Ferry Corsten etc and their own record label DeepBlueRecords has been a stalwart of the boxes of thousands of djs worldwide since its conception in 1999.
Solarstone regularly DJ worldwide delivering their unique blend of dance music to their dedicated fans, and like many other acts of their genre, Solarstone have amassed a fair array of alter-egos to cater for their various styles of electronic dance music, including `Young Parisians’ (avant-garde electronica) `Skyscraper’ (hands-in-the-air anthems), `Z2′ (`tough, hard prog-trance) & `Liquid State’ (vocal projects for Perfecto). Collaborations with talented vocalists like Jes Brieden (Like A Waterfall), Ben Lost (Jump The Next Train) and Elizabeth Fields (Speak In Sympathy) have enabled Solarstone to appeal to the mainstream (i.e. girls like them!) and club classics like `Seven Cities’ (Tim Stark – Dj Mags `Best trance track of the last 10 years’) are firmly cemented in the minds of millions of sun-seeking clubbers worldwide.
AnthologyTwo and AnthologyThree are scheduled to follow this release in 2007, consisting of Solarstone’s finest remix work and ambient works respectively.
AnthologyOne is released as a joint venture between DeepBlueRecords and SolarisRecordings.
