Galaxy is pleased to welcome Breaks legend Rennie Pilgrem to their bulging bag of specialist shows driving the digital station in 2007. Set to launch Saturday Feb 24th the Rennie Pilgrem show will showcase the best dancefloor-friendly funk-infused breaks from what is definitely one of the scenes true originators.

From coining the phrase ‘nu-skool breaks’ in the mid nineties to establishing seminal club nights (Friction/Hum) and a record label (TCR) Rennie has always been at the helm of an ever-changing scene. The new show on Galaxy will echo this passion with a mix of features including guest mixes from established and new faces and regular competitions to attend key nights around the country.

For the shows launch Rennie is offering an exclusive thirty minute podcast to anyone who signs up to the Access All Areas section of the Digital Galaxy website. This digital treat provides a taster of the dirty driving breakbeat madness that earned Rennie the title of ‘The Most Valuable/Influential Person’ at The International Breaks Awards for four years running.

Not content with bagging Mr Breaks himself, Galaxy have also teamed up with Defected, to bring yet another fresh show to the airwaves, launching 23:00-00:00 on February 23rd.
With Galaxy currently the most listened to commercial radio brand by 15-34s in the UK and Defected notching up various Top 20 successes with Bob Sinclair and Junior Jack the show is a natural step for both brands that are aware of their combined potential to build upon their audiences.

As the number one dance independent label, Defected has both captivated and inspired the respect of audiences around the world. It has become synonymous with quality house music of every kind and is often used as a way of describing a particular style of house as `Defected style house’. The idea of the show is to highlight credible club and underground tracks as well as being a breeding ground for future dance hits. Regular features will include:

• ‘Front 2 Back’ where listeners are given a heads up to a Future House Classic from the `Front’ of the stack followed by a true House classic from the `Back’ of the stack.
• ‘Deep, Down and Discofied’ – go back to the roots of Dance music selecting 1 inspirational Disco, Funk or Soul track (usually something that has been sampled by today’s dance producers)

Defected on Galaxy DAB Digital has developed organically from the record labels highly successful podcasts which regularly gain 70,000 downloads. Broadcast over various channels the series of podcasts gave Galaxy a taste of what they see developing into a ground breaking show for their DAB digital station broadcast across London, Central Scotland and the East Midlands.
