‘THIS WAY UP’ ALBUM SAMPLER 1

Passenger Records proudly announce the launch their brand new album project `This Way Up’ Having handpicked some of their favourite artists within the breaks scene label owners (and breakbeat connasiours) Aquasky have packaged them all onto one tidy little album for your convenience. Each artist has written an original track for the label showcasing their sound, their vibe and their imagination. The album, titled `This Way Up’, is a representation of the current and rather vibrant breakbeat scene with tracks created by producers from every corner of the planet.

That’s not all folks, oh no! Following his first foray into breaks alongside Aquasky (featured on this album) Drum `n’ Bass legend DJ Friction has been drafted in to mix this album in his own imitable style and all twelve brand spanking new and unreleased tracks will feature on a full vinyl release over the next few months – surely this is every breakbeat lovers wet dream!

To kick-start the project we deliver the first double A-side to be released from the project and crikey, it’s a double barrelled belter. First up we have the versatile genius that is Nick Thayer teaming up with his new writing partner Micah representing the sound of Australia. This tune is something completely different from Mr.Thayer, a sort of cross between the Prodigy and a Roy Budd film score. It has been pigeon-holed at the Passenger HQ as `Festival Breaks’ as this will tear the roof off any arena and leave many ketamine casualties shaking in their tents!

On the flipside we have breaks new-comer Phetsta, representing Perth, Australia. His production had been coming to the attention of Passenger Records by his recent d&b outings on Simon Bassline Smith’s Technique label. When approached he was keen to rise to the challenge and with a little `grooming’ we have unearthed a future player of the breaks scene. With a similar vibe as Noisia’s `Gutterpump’ and with equal production abilities, this is a summer groove that will keep the dancefloor warm and bubbling till winter.
