Becks Fusions - Free Gigging!

Series of unique live art and music events across the UK, headlined by Chemical Brothers and United Visual Artists in Trafalgar Square, London

Beck’s and the Institute of Contemporary Arts announce today the launch of Beck’s Fusions, a series of unique events across the UK, challenging leading musical and artistic talent to unite to create original and inspiring performances.

Beck’s Fusions is a series of live, free events including `The Beck’s Fusions Experience’ - a unique interactive performance pod hosting dynamic audio visual installations - in four iconic locations across the UK and Ireland in September 2007. Beck’s Fusions will launch in Trafalgar Square and will include a unique fusion performance from the Chemical Brothers and United Visual Artists (UVA), supported by Calvin Harris and Novak 3D Disco.

All day events will be free and open to the public and the evening Beck’s Fusions performances will be ticketed. Tickets for the evening events can be won through promotional packs of Beck’s and Beck’s Vier and through the website www.becksfusions.com . The website will also contain full details of each event, as well as information on artists, musicians and locations.

BECK’S FUSIONS - LONDON
Beck’s Fusions will begin at the ICA on Tuesday 4th September with exhilarating fusions of art and music based performance, film and installation works, which will pave the way for the UK’s first touring interactive performance pod, revealed in Trafalgar Square on Thursday 6th September. An orbital structure measuring 26 by 10 metre, the pod will premiere ground-breaking fusions of audio visual works from artists such as Graham Dolphin and Jordan Baseman, and will be open to the public free of charge.

On Sunday 9th September, the pod will be transformed into a high-tech stage that will host the first ever Beck’s Fusions event, live to 9000 people. The Chemical Brothers and UVA will be uniting to create a spectacular and original multimedia performance.

Opening the event is rising Scottish star Calvin Harris, who will be unveiling his unique Fusion with artists Novak 3D Disco. Renowned DJ Erol Alkan will also perform a set to the Trafalgar Square crowds as part of the one-off live event.

BECK’S FUSIONS - DUBLIN, MANCHESTER AND GLASGOW
Beck’s Fusions will be touring the interactive performance pod around the UK and Ireland throughout September - with events in Dublin’s Meeting House Square, Manchester’s Urbis, and Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket - which will showcase art and music fusions from both national and regional artists. Each event will be headlined by Calvin Harris and Novak 3D Disco and will also feature support from up-and-coming musicians and artists from each city.

Richard Ingram, Marketing Manager from Beck’s, comments: “Beck’s Fusions will be bringing something truly unique to the UK art and music scene this year. For the past 20 years, Beck’s has championed emerging visual arts talent through projects such as Beck’s Futures, and in this multimedia age we’re beginning to see artists experiment with other genres. We’re celebrating this by bringing together big names from both the art and music worlds in a series of four pioneering events.”

Ekow Eshun from the ICA adds: “The ICA has enjoyed a rich history of partnership with Beck’s, not least through Beck’s Futures, the highly successful contemporary arts prize and exhibition established at the ICA in 2000. Beck’s Fusions continues that relationship. It’s a significant new event featuring original fusions between artists and musicians and the commissioning of great new visual work. We hope the result will be music as you’ve never heard - or seen it - before.”
