Felix Da Blaktro!

First he rocked dance floors as a teenager in the late ’80s (does anyone remember “Phantasy Girl”?) with pumping house music. Then he helped play a major role in electro’s recent rebirth. Now Chicago house icon Felix Da Housecat (aka Felix Stallings) has assumed a new alias for his third album, Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco. The album apparently harkens back to a time when soul and pop music were actually good.

Says Felix: “I wanted to go Parliament, I wanted to go Sly And The Family Stone, I wanted to go black Prince. But at the same time I wanted to go like George Michael and Pet Shop Boys—only them being black, ’cause this stuff is all black-influenced. So I had to do this Blaktro record.”

The was recorded in Barcelona (at an old movie theatre turned studio) and Antwerp by Felix and Belgian producer BC and then mixed late last year in the Atlanta studio of Felix’s pal Dallas Austin (producer of Kelis, Gwen Stefani, TLC, etc).

The lead single “Something For Porno” drops soon, and the album is in stores on October 2. Felix will play two shows on August 4th. Starting the day with an appearance at the Virgin Festival, in Baltimore, he will go late into the night at the Avalon in Los Angeles. His album will be released in October.
