Marine Parade Extravaganza (Fabric)

mplogo.gifOn Friday the 15th of February, we’re pleased to announce that Marine Parade will be taking over Room One for a showcase (or parade, if you will) of the finest they have to offer. Marine Parade was set up by Adam Freeland in 1998 to push the boundaries of electronica. It has since become a flagship label of quality within the scene, releasing anthems like Freeland’s 2003 global smash “We Want Your Soul” and ILS’ “Next Level” to Jape’s recent genre-smashing hit “Floating” and Freeland’s widely-successful club mixes of the Doors “Hello, I Love You.” Year after year, Marine Parade has proven itself a dependable hothouse of new talent, having helped launch the career of esteemed Australian dance-music band Infusion, UNKLE collaborator Richard File (as Forme), and Bjork musical director Damian Taylor (as Stone Lions).

Heading the evening up in Room One is label boss and head honcho himself, Adam Freeland. Initially establishing himself as a DJ in the early 90′s London club scene, Freeland went on to produce two “Coastal Breaks” compilations, as well as mixing our very own FABRICLIVE 16. At the start of his career, Freeland joined legendary Belgian label R & S Records as A & R, an experience that inspired him to launch his own imprint: the very reason we’ll be celebrating to full effect on the 15th, Marine Parade. Adam recently released his astounding new E.P “Hate”, of all original material and capped off a triumphant year for the man himself. In 2007, Adam also dropped a number of acclaimed remixes for artists ranging from Fujiya & Miyagi to Marilyn Manson. Also look out for Freeland’s upcoming artist album which is due in Spring 2008 entitled “How To Fake Your Own Life.”

” Looking forward to rocking it with the whole Marine Parade family. We have all got a lot of new material together as all of our albums will be dropping over the next few months. We come to destroy! ” – Adam Freeland

From the man at the label’s very foundations springs Marine Parade’s newest signing, breakbeat wunderkind Alex Metric. Following in the footsteps of Jaques Lu Cont, Phones, Jagz Kooner and Unkle, the 26 year old whiz has been named by Eddy Temple Morris as the “Best Remixer of 2007.” Metric is certainly one to watch, an exciting talent of immeasurable proportions, as exemplified by the release of his new debut artist EP “In Your Machine”, with which he is on a mission to destroy dancefloors and includes the genre-smashing “Whatshewants.” Most recently, Metric’s been busy re-working tracks, completing official remixes for the likes of GusGus, Black Daniel, Sharam Jey, and Jape. Also stepping up to fly the Marine Parade flag are two evildoers that have done a world of good for breakbeat, Evil Nine. Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy first combined skills in the seaside town of Brighton in 1998 – it wasn’t long before their sound reached the appreciative ear of Adam Freeland. The devilish duo were whisked away to create their first EP, the atmospheric `Less Stress,’ an immense proggy hit for Marine Parade. Evil Nine continued to explore the feel and fit of various sounds, eventually finding themselves most comfortable on 2002′s `Cakehole,’ a rock-infused breaks masterpiece. Since then, each of their releases has distinguished Evil Nine as innovators who refuse to blend into any scene, a sentiment proudly displayed with their 2006 compilation FABRICLIVE 28. Beyond their own tracks, the boys have had several successful remixes, working with artists such as U.N.K.L.E, Moby, Timo Maas and Will Saul. 2008 will see Evil Nine releasing another full length E.P and introducing their live band – watch this (evil) space.

South Central, currently tearing up dance floors nationwide, will shake up the disco with a taste of their block-rocking live sets. The Brighton-based duo (a Band/DJ production team) are leading the vanguard of the new generation of artists melding both indie and electro influences. South Central rose to prominence providing innovative dance cuts for the likes of Shitdisco, Sunshine Underground and The Maccabees, to name but a few. Expect stand-out hit `Machine’ to have room one truly rumbling on the night, as well as countless surprises…

“This is our first London show of 2008 playing with some of the best acts in dance music so people are going to have to brace themselves for the full force of the South Central Live-iathon, we are going to rock `em till they drop and then some!”- South Central
