Jaytech – Everything Is OK Preview

jaytech-everythingisokThese are changing times… Eschewing the flat, linear sounds of minimal and dispensing with the sugary chords of saccharine trance, the young electronic stars of 2008 are creating a new middle ground. One such talent is Jaytech, aka James Cayzer, who at 22 has carved himself an enviable reputation as a supremely credible producer, DJ, and live talent. ‘Everything Is OK’ is his debut artist album.

Uplifting, but never obvious, his music is well-thought out melodic house that’s equally at home in a Sasha or Desyn Masiello set as in a headline slot from Above & Beyond (Jaytech is also their opening DJ of choice).

Born in Canberra, Australia, Jaytech had his first production signed at the age of 16 (having started producing at 14); ‘Music 101′ was a precocious start and achieved worldwide recognition. Though his exams were deemed the main priority by his parents, he spent his daytime hours on both his studies and his classical training (as a pianist), while at night, holed up in his bedroom, he perfected his programming skills.

Hard work and an early start has certainly paid off, with a discography that runs into double figures and includes notable releases such as ‘Genesis’, which won widespread support from everyone from Desyn Masiello to Tiesto – who included it on his In Search Of Sunrise compilation, ‘Spacelift’, and ‘Pepe’s Garden’, which similarly found favour with Sasha, Armin Van Buuren and everyone in between. Now with his academic studies behind him, and with a debut album under his belt, Jaytech’s entering the next stage of an extremely promising career.

One of the most accomplished debut electronic albums of the year, ‘Everything Is OK’ should see his profile catapult. The 12 tracks include the blissful electronica of the album’s opening shot, ‘Nighthawk’, the melodic chunk of ‘Highway Rockers’, the funk-soaked ‘Special X’, the deep but muscular trance of ‘Pyramid’, ‘Gray Horizon’ – the first of two tracks featuring the vocals of Melody Gough (the other being the sublime ‘Drive’), ‘Groove Nova’s’ driving tech groove, and more.

“After a year and a half in the making I am pleased to announce the release of my debut artist album ‘Everything is OK’ on Anjunabeats in late June 08. The 12 track album will be available on CD and digitally, and the forthcoming single off the album (Deadlock/Groove Nova) will be available on vinyl, cd and digital. With shining preliminary reviews and an excellent team facilitating the release, this is looking to be my biggest one yet!” – Jaytech
