Alex Tepper has been DJ-ing for over 10 years and is one half (with Phil Dockerty being the other), of the legendary outfit Futureshock, one of Birmingham’s finest exports. These are the guys responsible for bringing us the classic tracks ‘On My Mind’ and Late at Night’. Their deeply progressive and spine tingling house with an electro edge is synonymous of hedonistic moments at beach parties in Ibiza and Goa alike; Futureshock have taken their sound all over the world – playing in top global hotspots from Fabric in London to Yellow in Japan to Zook in Kuala Lumpa. With remixes of Moby, Underworld, New Order, Groove Armarda and The Chemical Brothers also under their bulging belt, it is fair to say that their sound will take you to another place. Alex’s recent solo productions carry on this prophecy, for example the house fuelled, drum-based genius ‘Grains’ can be found on Steve Lawler’s recent ‘Mind blowing Masterpiece’ compilation ‘Viva Toronto’, while ‘Tigerdust’ was snapped up by Renaissance for recent release. Futureshock’s set last week on Annie Nightingale’s Radio 1 show caused something of an uproar, making Alex’s set at Platinum in two weekends something to really start dribbling over.
At just 22, this is one spinning fellow to keep eyes peeled on. After getting an army of his own productions signed, Lewis Ryder now runs his own label – Bigger Deer Recordings, which culminated in a packed out launch party at The Egg last month. With his bouncy tech-house with twisted stabs of deepness, you’ll be lost in the music and bouncing right all over the dance floor. The first release on this label is ‘Empty Draw’(BDR001*) and with support from Nic Fanciulli, Hernan Cattaneo, Tommy Four-Seven, James Zabiela, it’s hard to imagine that there won’t be some fireworks when Lewis is in the room. He span alongside Danny Tenaglia this month at Space, and has an EP out on Rebirth coming soon.
Huw Lloyd will be spinning his deep dark, techy and tribal sound extra hard for this party tonight as it’s his birthday! With recent appearances at London premier after hours club Jaded @ AKA / The End which were both greeted by a warm and excited response, Huw has also been putting in plenty of time in the studio working on productions with his partner in crime Javier Espanol, who is also spinning at Hindsight tonight. This set is perfect timing to see Huw in great spirits and at his level best. Huw regularly appears with the groundbreaking SOS (Demi, Desyn Masiello & Omid16B), most notably with a UK appearance at Bedrock last year, and Huw and Javier just had a remix released on Krieces Illegal Ninja Moves imprint.
Javier Espanol is a also regular DJ for Azuli playing alongside D Ramirez, X Press 2, Tom Stephan and his tunes have been featured on Azuli mixes and Ministry of Sound Radio.
Pret A Ecouter hosting the ground floor mean Platinum’s entrance area with impressive glitter ball will be bouncing with fresh and warm deep house sounds to get your toes tapping and your body grooving.
Platinum once again brings you the finest in underground house and techno music, combining talent from the highly recognisable names, to the new and soon to be explosive ones… SEE YOU ON THE DANCEFLOOR!
