After numerous live shows and DJ performances around the globe including Glastonbury 2008, Space (Ibiza) and not to mention playing alongside Groove Armada during their South American tour. Cicada return for 2008 with the first single from their second album set to be released early in the new year.
Two years since the release of their debut which has sold over 20000 copies purely by word of mouth, they return with Falling Rockets. Collaborating again with Icelandic singer Heidrun Bjornsdottir the track retains Cicada’s trademark sound but is also a clear step forward. Using the live instrumentation for which they are known but with both feet firmly in the world of electronica this sounds like little else around. Remixes come courtesy of some of the hottest producers around.
First up is Just A Band ….Up and coming heroes of the New Wave of French electronic music from Bordeaux. Behind the superlative remix of Alex Gopher’s Belmondo earlier in the year – and now providing Cicada with a mix that could be described as French synth house finery in a soundclash with early eighties tom tom club and the Bush Tetras for you train spotters out there. Fantasique!
Next up is Moulinex. Luis to his mother, portugese by birth but residing in Berlin. Behind the huge mix of Cut Copy ‘Lights and Music’ he now brings his analogue joy to bear on Cicada. Feel the love! And finally, Cicada sprinkle some of their own disco magic over the track, showing just what a versatile talent they all.
In all, a stunning ep that we’re delighted to share with you here Finally Cicada mix as featured on Pete Tongs Show.
