Crazy P - Love On The Line

crazypCrazy P have signed up to 2020 and delivered an amazing new album Stop, Space, Return, set for release on 13.10.08. Love On The Line is the first single to be fully released and is definitely one of the standout tracks. It’s also a massive live favourite for the band.

The original moves along on a pulsating, electronic 4/4 backing under Danielle’s insistent vocals recalling some (dare we say) classic Donna Summer moments. Although the start sounds like a 2008 digital disco production, (think Reverso 68 or Metro Area), as it builds you realise you are listening to a full band and when the strings (written by Jim and performed by The Serenade Quartet) kick-in they add a real authentic feel to proceedings. As the track finishes off you could be listening to The Love Unlimited Orchestra.

The first of our remixers is the mysterious Art Of Tones with three distinctly different offerings. The vocal mix keeps the structure of the original intact whilst fattening it up perfectly for house dancefloors and the dub compliments this for the non-vocal heads. But the Photon dub takes things further onto house dancefloors for an impressive 3am Wild Pitch experience, and is already a Back To Basics anthem. Next up come The Unabombers who drop us some of the Basement Soul music their Electric Chair night was world renowned for. The vox and dub versions are expertly produced examples of old school New York house with a nod to disco. Speaking of disco, nu-disco supremo Pete Herbert loved the track so much he made his own edit and we love it so much we’re putting it out. Disco new kids PBR Streetgang (Red Music) finish the package with another great disco dub.

Crazy P have never been a band swayed by the latest trends. They’ve stuck to their guns and let the world catch up with their unique sound. They are undeniably DISCO and have unintentionally found themselves as part of the recent renaissance that has crossed the Atlantic from New York City and now sit alongside Hercules & Love Affair and Escort as a band that can cut it live. There are dozens of talented bods on laptops making great nu-disco music, but Crazy P are one of a small number that take it fully to the stage.

The band’s pedigree as recording artists is clearly documented by three superb previous albums - their first two classics ‘A Nice Hot Bath With’ and ‘The Wicked Is Music’ on Paper Recordings and their last album ‘Night on Earth’ on Shiva, which sold over 20,000 copies. The latter proved to be a massive step up for the band, making them bonafide stars in Australia, New Zealand and the UK as well as cementing their reputation as highly respected songwriters.

Signalling the direction that they intend to love forward, this is the first time that Crazy P have signed up to a label as a full five piece band. Lead singer Danielle Moore is now a fully paid up member of the band, alongside original duo James Baron (keys) and Chris Todd (guitar) with Tim Davies (bass) and Matt Klose (drums), adding her vocals to every album track.

Over the past few years they have been performing to massive festival crowds and honing their considerable live skills, so when it came to getting back in the studio they channelled the live energy they’re renowned for into this track and the others on their superb fourth album. Only a handful of dance acts such as Groove Armada, Roisin Murphy and Hot Chip can put on a proper live performance, and Crazy P are part of this unique group with headline performances at The Big Chill, Good Vibrations in Sydney, Dance Village at Glastonbury, The Garden Festival in Croatia, plus also having supported Faithless on their 2005 stadium tour across the globe. Look out for Crazy P on tour in coming months as they take their new album on the road.
