Dlay – Vacant

vacantdlayRunning off the back of his successful ‘Dance with your eyes closed’ EP and his Sud Up & Dance releases gaining support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Shelley Parker & Dan Curtin to name a few, Dlay dips his multi talented toes back into the realms of downtempo electronica for his 2nd solo album.

Dlay’s love affair with music is as old as he is. This led him to quit school to work for Prime distribution, the UK home to techno at the time. Exposure to music on a daily basis, and working with labels such as Hydrophonic recordings and Primate expanded his musical tastes and skills. Dlay is a DJ/ Producer into styles as varied as techno, deep jacking house, ambient, electro and a healthy dose of electronica. He spends his time Djing for Peg, and FDP at the Egg and Dulcet beats. He is also one half of Untying the Knots and Sketchy Beats.

His second album may well be different in style but unmistakably Dlay as he effortlessly blends his influences into his unique sound. From the melancholic beauty of ‘Take another look’ to the trip hop laced styling of ‘2nd Movement’ through to the glitchy bass of ‘Safe distance’. ‘Vacant’ marks a continued chapter of musical growth for this talented artist.

When Dlay isn’t in the studio he’s busy playing out for Peg & guest slots on Sunrise radio for the Underground dance show.
