2009 is going to be a big year for the Skank Sinatra boys; fact! With a plethora of original productions up their sleeve; all of which have received some seriously heavy remixes, their next single ‘Bombs’ is tipped to set the scene alight featuring remixes from Dogmatix, Palm Skin Productions and Blynky.
First up is Dogmatix (Egostatic) who serves up a robo-acid tinged monster. Break elements fuse with a pounding regimental bassline that would do some serious damage to your speakers. Noodly overlays creep in to finish of this perfect peak time hit. A perfect secret weapon for any DJs record box.
Freerange & Mo Wax producer Palm Skin Productions provides a much smoother take than its predecessor. A darker, driving bass with Chicago-influenced synth-stabs gives this track a lush, deep house feel. Retaining some of the original vocal this version is perfect for warm up or down.
Continuing with the dance floor assault, Blynky weighs in with a heavy-hitting industrial electro remix that wobbles and shakes in all the necessary places. A relentless gargantuan bass is again the focus with fat, scattered beats and choice vocal snippets dancing gleefully alongside it.
The package wouldn’t be complete without the original version. Kicking off with a nice dubby, orchestral flavour that is reminiscent of Massive Attack and Tricky… the album version has a large, dub-step style bass line with ambient textures that blend perfectly with Spiced Arabs silky vocals.
The boys have dished out some pretty sharp videos for the Palm Skin & Dogmatix remixes – make sure you check them out on www.youtube.com/user/rmdrecordings ‘Bombs’ is a prime example of how Skank Sinatra is firmly stamping their territorial mark on the emerging fusion of musical genres. The talented four piece that is Skank Sinatra brilliantly illustrate their ability to bridge this gap and are definitely ones to watch in 2009.
