Sean Brosnan has compiled the follow up to the highly successful ‘Future Disco’ mix album, set for release on his new label NeedWant in October.
Following the highly successful ‘Future Disco – A Guide to 21st Century Disco’, Sean Brosnan has mixed and compiled ‘The Extended Future Disco Mix’ a unique re-edited, extended and remixed journey of this burgeoning genre, which Mixmag calls “the most exciting production work going on in clubland”.
The second edition picks up where volume one left off. It features the epic pianos of the chart bound Juan MacLean’s ‘Happy House’, an exclusive remix of Mercury Price Nominees Friendly Fires, the 90′s house nod of Todd Terje’s mix of Sh*t Robot, the unadulterated disco of Faze Action’s ‘I Wanna Dancer’ as well as tracks and remixes from major live dance act Crazy P, Prins Thomas and disco pioneer Greg Wilson. However, far from a straight DJ mix, musical elements from each track have been edited, effected, laboured over and combined with real love and attention to create a cohesive, stand out journey.
The series was born out of a desire to bring together a new emerging genre that wasn’t captured in depth by any music collection. The demand certainly seems to be there as the first volume ‘A Guide to 21st Century Disco’ released in March 2009 was received to both critical and listener acclaim.
You would have had to be living in a cave not to have noticed the disco renaissance in the air. With the doom and gloom that feeds out of the world’s media, people have been attracted to something all together more colourful, freer and happy. Disco has filled the void. But this Disco is a new kind of Disco. Created by a new breed of producers who have taken the influences of the 70s, 80s and even 90s house and created a sound that has captivated dance floors in 2009 – this is Future Disco.
The launch party will take place at the Queen of Hoxton on Friday 16th October and feature live/dj sets from Crazy P, Severino from Horse Meat Disco and Sean Brosnan with more to be confirmed.
