On October 26th 2009 German DJ/producer Gregor Tresher presents his sophomore album ‘The Life Wire’ on the self-owned label Break New Soil. Tracks from The Life Wire have already won serious love from the likes of Nic Fanciulli, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire and Ivan Smagghe.
Following his critically-acclaimed debut long-player A Thousand Nights, a string of massive singles and a 50 date world tour, The Life Wire is set to ensure Gregor’s rise to the top.
More skewed, funky, eerie and eclectic than A Thousand Nights, even taking in a vocal track, The Life Wire shows Gregor’s expanded palette and extended capabilities as a producer. The album takes in breakbeat and housey doings, as well as keeping alive his electro, techno and minimal foundations.
“It’s the songwriting that I’m interested in the mostâ€, says Tresher. “Of course dance music has to be focused on the dance floor, but it’s the hybrid between functionality and creating a
special magic that I’m looking for.”
Hailing from the Rhine-Main region of Frankfurt, Gregor sites influences including Depeche Mode, Heaven 17, Duran Duran, Placebo, Front 242 and Laurent Garnier. Having experienced a phenomenal rise spurred on by support from Anthony Rother, Billy Nasty and Sven Väth, he has released on labels including Cocoon, Great Stuff, Datapunk and Moon Harbour, and has collaborated or produced for Fergie, Billy Nasty, Monika Kruse, Johannes Heil and Karotte.
Recently, Gregor has released music on Josh Wink´s prestigious Ovum label, Dubfire´s newly established Sci+Tec banner and Marc Romboy´s imprint Systematic. In 2007 Gregor was voted ‘Best Producer’ for the second year running in leading German magazine Raveline. Also in 2007, his debut album title song A Thousand Nights was the best selling techno track on Beatport.
Other achievements of note include Gregor completing a whopping 50-date album tour in support of the debut and taking in storming gigs in the US, Canada, Brazil and Russia. 2008 was no less fruitful, as Gregor produced German techno queen Monika Kruse´s first full length album, which was voted on ‘# 2 Album Of The Year’ in Germany’s Raveline Magazine and also made it into the 2008´s Best Albums in German title Groove Magazine.
Gregor has begun a 40 date Life Wire album tour 2009 which takes Gregor to Canada, the US, Europe and most importantly for us, Fabric, on August 15th. Check the Fabric blog for an exclusive mix from Gregor.
