Solarstone move to Solaris Recordings

As of the 20th July 2008 Solarstone (DJ & Producer Rich Mowatt) has left Deepblue Recordings to pursue other label interests. Following in the grand traditions of Remington’s Victor Kiam, Rich liked Solaris Recordings (the label Solarstone are released through) so much, he bought the company! Latterly, Solaris has emerged as a new spiritual home for Solarstone and played a huge part in the success of the release of the highly-acclaimed SS album ‘RainStarsEternal’ & its encompassing 25-date world tour.

The imprint will plug in to UK heavy-weight independent Pinnacle for distribution. With the label’s superb resources (which includes the state-of-the-art Green-List system), it will allow Rich the infrastructure with which to raise the label’s profile by many levels. Henceforth Richard will be taking over the A&R reigns at Solaris……

Spektrum Hits Manchester

Rumours have been filtering through the nocturnal clubscape of Manchester for some weeks now that something nuclear is about to detonate on Radium Street. We are in a position to confirm those rumours, by detailing that a new club will indeed open its doors on the first weekend of September 2008. That club is Spektrum.

The team behind Sankeys know how to put on a party. And that’s putting it mildly. The club was recently voted 17th best on the planet in DJ magazine, and what made that special was the fact it was voted for by DJs and music industry professionals. The esteemed Canada-based website The Fresh Page went one better by putting Sankeys firmly in the top 10, as its impact resonates across…

AREA51 In August

AREA51 has fast become one of the glowing lights in the Manchester dance scene. With its banging Funktion one sound system, its world class line ups and up for it party atmosphere that cant be rivalled anywhere in the city.

July’s Saturday Sessions saw AREA51 packed to the rafters with capacity crowds each week, thanks to the likes of Jo Mills, Daley Padley, Henrik B and a monstrous residents party.
Keeping the party flowing the AREA51 crew have put together yet another stonking line-up for August full of new talent, tasty, banging beats and the inaugural good times that have become part of the furniture for this relatively new club on the scene…

Hindsight @ Platinum, 02/08/08 with Futureshock

Alex Tepper has been DJ-ing for over 10 years and is one half (with Phil Dockerty being the other), of the legendary outfit Futureshock, one of Birmingham’s finest exports. These are the guys responsible for bringing us the classic tracks ‘On My Mind’ and Late at Night’. Their deeply progressive and spine tingling house with an electro edge is synonymous of hedonistic moments at beach parties in Ibiza and Goa alike; Futureshock have taken their sound all over the world – playing in top global hotspots from Fabric in London to Yellow in Japan to Zook in Kuala Lumpa. With remixes of Moby, Underworld, New Order, Groove Armarda and The Chemical Brothers also under their bulging belt, it is fair to say that their sound will take you…

SOS For NYC Cruise

On Saturday, August 2, Global Frequencies sets sail around NYC with a DJ set from world-renowned London DJ collective, SOS (Comprised of Desyn Masielo, Omid 16B and Demi). The SOS boys mark their NYC boat party debut by fashioning a set that leans heavily toward their recent Balance 013 mix CD. This event will feature a spot-on selection of sounds from yesterday, today and tomorrow’s electronic maestros.

Global Frequencies is making quite a name for itself by throwing some of the best summer dance music boat parties in recent memory. The series kicked off Memorial Day weekend with local heroes John Creamer & Stephane K, while DJs Luke Fair and James Talk operated the decks for a “Wild West” themed Father’s Day cruise. The August 2 cruise promises to be…

Poland’s finest for Audioriver 2008

With only a little over a week to go before the festivities officially get underway, it is high time we announced which local DJs will be supporting the star studded line up of international artists. In addition, we’ve decided to shake things up a bit this year by adding a bona fied chillout area for all the tired punters with a bad case of sore feet.

As far as the acts are concerned – we managed to book one of our premiere exports twice! 3 Channels will perform on both Friday and Saturday, each time on a different stage. The oh so mighty duo from Szczecin will spin at the Circus Stage on day one, while the following night will see them perform as Catz‘N Dogz (the guise they’re slated to…
