Behind every great label lies great artists, and for the last 4 years that’s something that Enhanced have had in positive cornucopia of…

Having been responsible for a succession of major-league releases, both Temple One and Estiva are two of the very brightest stars in the label’s galaxy. Now Enhanced Recordings are bringing this eminently talented twosome together, in the mix, for the first time. The occasion: the debut volume of their new series, ‘Enhanced Sessions’!

Temple One: Since rocketing onto the scene in 2006, Joe ‘Temple One’ Garrett has fast-tracked his way to becoming one of the most sought-after producers and remixers out there. In 2009 the world’s No.1 DJ, Armin van Buuren commented that Garrett is “one of my favourite producers today”. With unstinting support from a litany of other A-list spinners, his music has featured on every trance radio show, compilation and set-list out there. He has, to put it bluntly, the knack of producing the kind of music capable of giving goose-bumps to the deceased!

Estiva: Steven Baan, better known to the trance fraternity as Estiva, is famed for his luminous, Mediterranean melodies and sun-kissed productions. Since his debut release ‘Stella’ (which featured on Armin’s ASOT Yearmix in 2007), he hasn’t looked back. ‘Casa Grande’, his collaboration with Marninx appeared on Tiësto’s massive ‘In Search of Sunrise 7′ and his last EP on Enhanced, ‘Strawberry Fields’ was singled out by Mixmag as their ‘Tune of the Month’.

‘Enhanced Sessions Volume One’ features many an exclusive track from both of the artists, alongside the cream of the forthcoming Enhanced crop, including Ferry Tayle & Static Blue’s massive ‘L’Acrobat’ and Eide & Andrez ‘Forget Me’. Also front-and-centre on their tracklists are Sequentia vs. Maarten van Bergen’s rapacious ‘Echoes of Sound,’ ‘Things That Happen’ by label-boss Will Holland and ‘November Lovely’, Temple One & Estiva’s debut collaboration. Add to this some immense releases and forthcoming productions from the likes of Arnej, Tritonal, Breakfast and Jochen Miller and you’ve got a compilation compelling enough to bend light and catchy enough to make your teeth itch!

Techno don Christian Smith launches a brand new album concept for Renaissance – Platform, a mix that takes inspiration from the classic Detroit sound and the contemporary dancefloor…

Having made his name as a true heavyweight of the techno scene with a string of seminal productions to his name, Christian Smith is undoubtedly one of the best-respected names in the genre. Often collaborating with his long-time studio partner, John Selway, Christian’s work has set the benchmark for quality techno; as his releases with Josh Wink’s ‘Ovum’ imprint, John Digweed’s Bedrock, Steve Lawler’s ever-innovative Viva Music and of course, Renaissance, attest. Over the last few years Christian has developed his relationship with Renaissance, with two EPs under his belt. Now he launches the new series ‘Platform’, which has been designed to allow the freshest talent from the scene to shine, and there is surely none more deserving to kick things off.

“I wanted to do something special… that stands the test of time, but that has not been done for Renaissance before.” – Christian Smith

To achieve this he has given each mix of this two-disc package a different flavour. Devoting the first CD to Detroit techno, Christian “picked tracks that are produced by European artists that are heavily inspired by the early Detroit sound.” He mixes up the hypnotic groove of Radio Slave’s remix of the Humate classic ‘Love Stimulation’ with standout tracks from Stimming, Nic Fanciulli & Steve Mac. Christian also adds a generous helping of his own unreleased original production to create a shimmering soundscape, that is as beautifully crafted, as it is compelling.

The second disc represents Christian in a more peaktime, club environment – big records that convey the energy that he always brings to the dancefloor. Incorporating tracks from such production luminaries as Timo Maas, Cirez D and Guy J (as well as a further sprinkling of previously unheard material from his own studio) this CD is best described by Christian himself:

“At the end of that day it’s all about a good party and this is exactly what this second cd is to me.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Safety harnesses securely fastened? Good. For this ride, you will need them…

Sied van Riel’s first compilation rocket is on the launch pad and set, at the end of August, to break into dance music’s upper atmosphere.

Sied’s had, by any measure, a stratospherically large last 12 months. He’s released one floor-igniting anthem after another (amongst them ‘Rush’, ‘Closer to You’, ‘MME’ and ‘Contrasts’) and fanned the flames with a legion of equally-smashed remixes. He’s also become a DJ necessity at the biggest dance festivals, events and club nights around the globe. In April he played an extraordinary 7 major international gigs in just 9 days, in both the northern and southern hemispheres… He rocked all four Trance Energy Australia nights before flying back to do the same at Armin’s triple-whammy of ASOT400 events. It’s these and other events like Gatecrasher’s 15th Birthday, the Stocznia Festival in Poland (alongside Tiësto) and his residency at Cream @ Amnesia and that have seen him qualify his ‘Best Newcomer’ win at the Nov 08 Trance Awards, and turned him into 2009’s biggest trance news story.

‘In Riel Time’ is not just a cool title; it’s the album’s specification: 160 real-time minutes of the afterburning audio that Sied puts through the speaker cables every weekend captured on disc.

Fixing one sub-genre to this multi-denominational music is a near-impossibility (and if you take our counsel shouldn’t be attempted!!). Never one to be tied to just one post, his music explores deep, melodic and tech trance and all the minutiae hinterlands in between. It does though wear some devoutly Dutch colours on its sleeve. Tracks from newcomers like Claes Rosen’s ‘Genuine’ & Jan Oostdyk’s ‘Eivissa’ mix fluidly with established acts & tracks like Purple Haze (aka Sander van Doorn)’s ‘Bliksem’ and Ferry Corsten’s ‘We Belong’. Numerous summer ’09 anthems are also firmly in place with regular nitrous injections like Marcus ‘Dakota’ Schulz’s ‘Chinook’, Dash Berlin’s ‘Man on the Run’ and Breakfast ‘Air Guitar’ speeding the discs to their ballistic conclusions. Sied the producer is naturally well-represented on the compilation too, with both the ‘Dedication EP’ track ‘MME’ and his just-promoed, and fast-exploding ‘Mongoosed’ burning the speakers up in super-fast time.

‘In Riel Time’ is the essential SVR compilation equation, one that’ll live long in collections and even longer in the memory of generation trance.

With over 4 million GU compilation albums sold to date, Global Underground proudly presents the latest instalment in the ever popular worldwide city series: James Lavelle GU37 Bangkok.

It’s been a long five years since UNKLE’s James Lavelle released his second mix album for GU from Romania. It followed his series debut from Barcelona, which was hailed at the time as one of the finest and most timeless albums to come out of Global Underground in years.

James of course has been busy touring the world with his band UNKLE and releasing artist albums to critical acclaim while continuing to tour the world as an international DJ. His new mix album, in our opinion, is his best mix album to date!

Bangkok was the chosen city, selected for its vibrant nightlife and multi-cultural party scene.
The album is due for release 3rd August 2009.

On Bangkok, James has put together an electronic sonic soundscape that is his most eclectic yet, it features exclusive tracks and remixes from UNKLE themselves plus the likes of Radiohead, Radio Slave, Carl Craig, James Holden, Doves, Layo & Bushwacka!, X-Press 2, Innervisions (Henrik Schwarz / Ame / Dixon Feat Derrick Carter), School of Seven Bells, Nathan Fake, Evil Nine, Mystery Jets, Fergie and Animal Collective plus many more.

There are certain mix albums that remain on top of the pile, and this is definitely one. Ticking all boxes, it’s one to kick back and listen to at all times, not just a made-for-the-club album.

The cream of the Exploited’s back catalogue has been put together on a double CD.

The compilation includes a CD of unmixed Exploited tracks (featuring 50% new and exclusive stuff) and a mixed CD by Shir Khan, which includes exclusive Exploited material but also features a few tracks from other labels that has had an influence on the sound of Exploited in general – and Shir Khan in particular.

In the current scene of electro-house, it takes a lot to stand out from the crowd. Shir Khan is absolutely savage, slick, eclectic, multi genred, music savy and connected.

With over 100 of the world’s biggest artists on sixteen stages, arenas and terraces, the massive music marathon that is Global Gathering has won Best UK Festival for the last two years in the DJ magazine awards, and is widely regarded as the industry forerunner for worldwide electronic festivals.

To accompany this event, the world’s leading party promoters unleash their fifth self-titled ‘Global Gathering’ album, packed with headliner anthems, and the biggest new tunes – this is the soundtrack to your summer.

Mix 1 kicks off proceedings in true style, with Dirty South’s epic new remix of Leave The World Behind by GG superstar Axwell (and his chums from the Swedish House mafia). Other highlights from this mix include Sander Kleinenberg’s new electro workout This Is Our Night, ghetto bass frenzy Rikkalicious by Hervé & Kissy Sell Out, and GG Friday night headliners: Pendulum with their mighty drum & bass anthem Propane Nightmares (V.I.P. Mix).

Mix 2 keeps things moving with more mega tunes. Keep an ear out for Tom Middleton’s sublime new remix of Halcyon by Saturday night headliners Orbital – who kick of their UK tour at GG after a five-year absence! Other stars featuring in this mix include Paul van Dyk with his huge new single For An Angel 2009, Bedrock favourite Sasha’s stunning remix of Adam Parker – Highlife, and man of the moment Markus Schulz with his new remix of Cosmic Gate – Sign Of The Times.

So there you have it, Global Gathering is the essential festival album of summer 2009. Perfect for reminiscing those fun filled GG memories, or for those who can’t make it, recreating the big sounds of the festival in your own back garden (mud optional).

Exactly 15 years after the first Push release, the legendary guise of Belgian producer Mike Dierickx returns with a new album on June 23rd 2009. Suitably called ‘Global Age’, this artist album kicks off a new phase in Mike’s career. A career that covers more than a hundred releases and 6 albums over more than 60 different aliases. Growing, aging and gaining more experience with every track he’s produced, Mike has grown out to be one of the most esteemed producers the dance scene has to offer. Though every release he’s had is a perfect example of his versatile sound, it was the Push alias that left an everlasting footprint on the minds of dance music lovers. Time to revive and revamp this moniker. Push: “The time was right to bring back what everybody was waiting for. You’ve got the pro’s, you’ve got the con’s. But I just want to make music that I love without having the feeling of people telling me what to do! I don’t want to go back in time again and live forever on previous successes. I’m not in competition with myself; I just strive to a new global sound, trying to be innovative as much as I can.”

‘Universal Nation’, ‘Strange World’ and ‘The Legacy’ mark the successful Push era, but more future classics are about to find their way out. 2008 saw the return of Push, with the release of ‘Dream Designer’ on Mike’s very own Club Elite label, followed by ‘Interference’ in early 2009. But June 2009 marks a completely new chapter. ‘Global Age’ is Push, completely back in shape and ready to hit back with a new slack of techy, proggy, but most of all mind-blowing trance tunes. Push: “The same feel with the sound of today, that’s what ‘Global Age’ sounds like. The album has a progressive touch and goes into a trancy melodic journey.

Push is back with the same powerful, timeless sound, fit for a new era. Push:” ‘Global Age’ refers to all my travelling, my gigs, going on tour, making music on the move, it’s all part of the new global movement. There is no age on global clubbing, there is no age on making music, there is no age set on making fun in your life and doing where you live for. Actually, Push never went away, it was just waiting in a transit, waiting to get tranced out again. Push is back and here to stay…

Grabbing the baton from Toolroom Knights label boss Mark Knight is French DJ/Producer legend Joachim Garraud, who steps up to deliver a cutting-edge mix of future classics and forward-thinking house music.

This double-disc collection covers the length and breadth of the house music spectrum, moving from shades of House right through to the current crop of Techno and Electro. It is a sound that Joachim has lovingly cultivated over many years of solid gigging and through releasing a staggeringly consistent collection of quality music.

CD1 is definitely on the techier spectrum of Joachim’s palette, kicking off with Sidekick’s ‘Deep Fear’. Joachim turns up the heat a little with Mark Knight & Funkagenda’s ‘Arena’, providing the mix with some pulsating rhythms and driving beats… Sebastian Gnewkow’s ‘Threshold’ reigns it back in with some noodly, bleepy tech-house and some nice melodic overlays. Lazy Jay’s ‘Hammer Down’ serves up some regimental pounding bass, which makes you wish you were in a dark and sweaty club. Joachim finishes off with the knob-twiddling Taurus & Vaggeli’s ‘Hello Paris’, which leads on perfectly to CD2.

CD2 starts off with a bit of old school flavour with Da Fresh’s rework of ‘Age of Love’ which leads on to some nice US house sounds, with a dash of hip-house thrown into the mix with DJ Bam Bam & Mixin Marc’s ‘The New Hip House’. Joachim’s own ‘Miami is BS’ (written specifically for this compilation) follows on nicely and mixes perfectly with Groovewatchers ‘High Level’. Olav Basoski’s ‘Roulette’ kicks in alongside Steve Aoki’s ‘Deadmeat’ and leads us to Joachim’s exclusive remix of the Paganini Traxx’ ‘Zoe’, which we are pleased to announce has been released here for the first time. Joachim’s new remix of the legendary BBE track ‘Seven Days and One Week’ follows and finishes off with another track that Joachim wrote specifically for this Toolroom mix ‘No Techno in this Room Please’.

With such a full musical career and undoubtedly one of the most influential names within electronic music, Joachim was an obvious choice to mix the next ‘Toolroom Knights’ compilation. We are sure you will think so too…
