This just in: Audioriver Festival 2010 will not just be about dancing the night away listening to the world’s top electronic music act. The Plock-based event will, for the very first time since its inception, also venture into uncharted territory by expanding the proceedings, which now officially encompass an electronic music trade fair for the Polish scene, as well as workshops conducted by some of the festival’s headliners. Sponsored by the Red Bull Music Academy, this innovative project will be known as the Independent Market.

“Last year’s daytime program turned out to be a great success. The Festival cinema, a hand full of theatrical spectacles, and the concerts held by day went a long way in proving that Audioriver can be just as interesting in broad day light as it can be after dusk. Consequently, we pretty much jumped at the idea to take things to another level ”, says Audioriver spokesperson Lukasz Napora.

So what’s exactly behind the name itself? Well, it derives from the fact that the Independent Market will be located – surprise, surprise – in Plock picturesque Old Market Square, where Polish record labels, promoters, booking agencies and media outlets will have the opportunity to set up their own stands and show the whole scene exactly what they are about. Furthermore, each of the handpicked companies will also be allocated an hour of the daytime musical program.

“We expect the labels participating in this bold new venture to provide all interested parties with a thorough presentation of their music at their respective stands, along with interesting concerts and DJ sets. Booking agencies, too, will more than likely have no problem with providing a plethora of interesting music. On the other hand, festival organizers, event promoters and club owners will have the perfect opportunity to make the best of pushing their upcoming projects. The Independent Market, first and foremost, is intended to be a place where everyone can have a shot at reaching the Audioriver faithful. Not everyone who comes to Plock is in the loop about what’s happening in the Polish scene or regularly mingles with the who’s who of our scene, so this will be the perfect opportunity for such people to get the low down about what exactly is happening”, says Napora.

What’s more, the general public will also get the chance to take part in the Red Bull Music Academy workshops conducted by some of the festival’s headliners associated with this international project. Apart from the two week annual session held in a select city, the Red Bull Music Academy also encompasses traveling workshops, lectures, festivals and special info sessions held all over the world. The names of the international acts that will be taking part in the workshops in Plock will be announced soon.

Admission to the trade fair and workshops will be free of charge. The fifth edition of Audioriver Festival will take place on 6th-8th of August, 2010.

Tickets can be purchased exclusively via Ticketpro (www.ticketpro.pl)

As anticipation builds for the August Bank Holiday beats bonanza that is the L.E.D Festival, the team behind the event is set to announce a brand new arena headlined by two of Sweden’s biggest exports Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso as well as some more choice new additions who will be joining the likes of David Guetta, Leftfield, Soulwax, Goldfrapp, Calvin Harris and Aphex Twin to name a few.

One of the world’s biggest clubbing institutions Cream will be hosting their own arena on Friday 27th August and bringing with them an array of dance music heavyweights. First up we have Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, fresh off the back of two sell out shows at the legendary Brixton Academy. Renowned for delivering spectacular stage shows, festival goers can expect a wagon load of production and special effects for an awe inspiring show.

Axwell will be lighting up London with his ‘Heart’ Show performance. Devised, designed and built in Sweden, Axwell’s spectacular LED ‘Heart’ based around his logo stands at a gargantuan 6m high & 5m wide, the aluminium frame contains LED lamps whilst the inside is able to project visuals synced with Axwell’s specially composed tracks with the ‘Heart’ in mind.
Axwell debuted the ‘Heart’ 10,000 miles across the globe at the Stereosonic tour of festivals in Australia with fans videos posted online immediately captivating fans and the media alike. Exclusively for Axwell’s festival appearances, this will be the 1st time his loyal devotees in London will experience the must see ‘Heart’ surrounded by leafy Victoria Park juxtaposed urban East London and is set to be a show to remember.

Axwell says: “I want to bring something to the table, and give something back to the fans that give me so much love at my parties. They are the ones that allow me to continue to do what I love. Music.”

We can also announce another London festival exclusive from Sebastian Ingrosso who joins the bill performing in the Cream Arena.

Another act to join the ever growing line up is Afrojack, one of the world’s hottest breakthrough electro artistes whose fans include the likes of L.E.D headliner David Guetta, Tommie Sunshine, Calvin Harris, Lil Jon and Tiesto. He will be showcasing the mixing manoeuvres that have been getting the clubbing world hot under the collar. Other new additions include Kim Fai whose surefire floor fillers are already causing a stir worldwide, rising star AN21 – Steve Angello’s younger brother, no less – continues the Swedish flavour whilst sometime AN21 remix partner Max Vangeli adds a touch of San Francisco style to complete the line-up.

Adding their weight to Saturday 28th August’s bill which already includes Leftfield’s first hometown show in more than a decade, Goldfrapp, Friendly Fires and a rare appearance from special guest Aphex Twin, will be South African sensations Die Antwoord. Famed for their ‘Enter The Ninja’ video that swept across the world in a blaze of ‘interweb’ glory earlier this year, Die Antwoord are a self-styled Zef-rap phenomenon. Plying their synth heavy riffs the genre-busting trio of Ninja, Yo-landi Vi$$ser and DJ Hi-Tek are set to take things to the next level with their stunning slang heavy flows and concrete beats.

With further announcements to come keep checking www.ledfestival.net for more information.

Confirmed in January of this year, the fifth edition of one of Europe’s premier electronic music festivals is slated to take place between August 6th and 8th 2010 on the picturesque beach located along the Vistula River in Plock, Poland. Somewhat later, it was announced that the mighty Richie Hawtin will be making his way to Plock with his hotly tipped Plastikman Live show. Now, it seems like the perfect moment not only to announce the first headliners, but also to begin ticket sales for Audioriver ’10. And, in our opinion, Ellen Allien, Hybrid live, Karotte, Dusty Kid live as well as Qemists Soundsystem should give the Audioriver faithful more than enough reasons to get their hands on the first batch of tickets, which will only put you back a mere 70 zl (approx. 18 euros) for a two day pass.

After recently announcing the inclusion of techno uberguru Richie Hawtin as Plastikman Live to this year’s line up, we are more than pleased to confirm that Ellen Allien will finally be back in Poland for the first time in 9 years. Considered by many to be the queen of both the German and international techno scenes, Allien has on several occasions released seminal albums, the most notable undoubtedly being her solo effort ‘Berlinette’ and ‘Orchestra of Bubbles’ recorded together with Apparat. As the head of Bpitch Control, she has been responsible for giving the world a plethora of trend setting, timeless pieces of music, and has also nurtured the talents of highly respected artists like Modeselektor, Moderat and Paul Kalkbrenner under BPitch’s wings.

Fans of quality techno have always had many reasons to come to Plock, but this year they will have more than ever with the ubiquitous Dusty Kid and the highly respected Karotte on the bill. The former is the man behind one of the finest dancefloor friendly techno LPs (‘A Ravers Diary’) of last year, while the latter literally destroys dancefloors the world over on a regular basis. And his residencies at clubs such as U60311, Harry Klein and Cocoon pretty much speak for themselves.

It is also worth noting that for the first time in the festival’s five year history the organizers of Audioriver have booked an act to perform for a second time. ‘Although Hybrid played at the festival in 2007, we just could not resist inviting them to come again after hearing that they will soon be releasing their fourth album. Each and every one of the group’s albums has so far been a masterpiece, and the band went down a treat on our stage the first time around, so we really did not have much to think about. And the recently released lead single from the forthcoming album, ‘Break My Soul’, went a long way in strengthening our belief that Hybrid should be the first repeat act in Audioriver’s history’, says festival spokesperson Lukasz Napora. Here’s the video to Hybrid’s youngest child: http://vimeo.com/9552552

There will be no shortage of top flight drum & bass, either. Fans of the genre will most likely be very pleased to learn that Audioriver’s organizers have a real treat in store in the form of Qemists Soundsystem, whose highly energetic album ‘Join The Q’ found its way into the record collections of fans of groups such as Pendulum. ‘The trio, which at times ventures into rock territory, usually performs live, and sometimes as DJs. Despite the fact that the group is unfortunately not planning to perform live this year, we managed to book them as a semi live act, which means that their ‘traditional’ DJ set up will be accompanied by live keys and an MC’, adds Napora.

Tickets, as always, are available via www.ticketpro.pl

Ticket prices for Audioriver 2010 are as follows:
March 1st – April 30th: 70 pln | approx. 18 euros (two day ticket)
May 1st – July 31st: 100 pln | approx. 25 euros (two day ticket)
August 1st – August 5th: 130 pln | approx. 32 euros (two day ticket)
During the festival: 130 pln (two day ticket); 70 pln (one day ticket)

[ONLY LONDON APPEARANCE OF 2010]

As the world’s undisputed no.1 DJ it’s a great honour to announce that Armin van Buuren has chosen South West Four for his only London gig of 2010. Armin follows in the footsteps of Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Sasha and John Digweed by headlining South West Four for the very first time.

Not only has Armin officially been voted the most popular DJ on the planet for the past three years, A State Of Trance continues to set the standard as the world’s most popular radio show. It now appears on a remarkable forty worldwide FM stations and attracts more than thirty million listeners a week. His record label Armada Music is now one of the premier labels in dance music, whilst Armin’s remixes of The Killers and BT sell by the lorry load. This is all achieved whilst Armin tours the four corners of the globe headlining the world’s leading nightclubs and festivals, holding down an epic weekly summer residency at Amnesia Ibiza and regularly playing ‘Armin Only’ gigs to over 10,000 fans. Currently working on a new album which will be showcased at SW4, this will be the first time he has headlined a festival in the UK. A true landmark gig for Armin, this will be a guaranteed pilgrimage for any trance lover.

SUNDAY

[ONLY LONDON APPEARANCE OF 2010]

With SW4 extending across two unforgettable days in 2010, we needed an act that had been there, seen it and done it all to headline the Sunday night. To use one of dance music’s most loved cliché’s we needed an act who needs no introduction. And for us there was only one contender. That man is Fatboy Slim.

As one of the most consistent songwriters of the modern era, not to mention one of the very best remixers in the business and one of the most popular DJs of all time, Fatboy Slim is the big man for the big occasion. From DJing infront of 250,000 people on Brighton Beach and at the Rio Carnival, through to headlining the world’s leading festivals and selling out concert venues the world over, Fatboy Slim’s DJ sets are the stuff of legend. With an astounding ability to connect with thousands of people in one instant, Fatboy Slim is the ultimate performer that we are truly privileged to welcome to SW4 for his only London appearance of 2010.

MORE HUGE NAMES FOR SW4 COMING SOON!

Hot on the heels of the news that Armin van Buuren and Fatboy Slim are to headline the first ever South West Four Weekender will be the full additions to the lineup in the coming weeks. Sauntering at a languorous pace ‘Brainwaves’ draws the listener along into the depth of its serene musical oasis. On the remix, Stephen Lopkin adds a little Latin vigour and electronic debauchery to shake things up and provide something for the less salubrious night-time setting.

\\1. Brainwaves (Main Mix)
Enchanting deep house music wrapped in comforting swirls of synth and presented upon a heartening baseline that gently massages into compliance.

\\2. Brainwaves (Dub Mix)
More of the same tender, reassuring depth.

\\3. Brainwaves (Stephen Lopkin Mix)
Lopkin mischievously introduces Latin beats and techno squeaks and splutterings to up the intensity and morph his mix into a more dancefloor destined track

An established DJ and producer of many years, Demarkus Lewis has released on such labels as Swerve Records, End Recordings, Slip n Slide, Low Down, and Brique Rouge. He runs record label Grin Music.

Let’s call them local boys made good. Their releases have had support from Dubfire, D Ramirez, Tocadisco, Nic Faciulli, Carl Cox, Hybrid, Nick Warren, the Loose Cannons, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, and their more-or-less weekly London parties include Matter, Koko, and residencies at the much-missed Key as well as the Cross, Pacha, Plan B and the Egg. Having had our eye on them for some time, we’ve asked them to restart the label with the pumping We are Many, and their collaboration with Harry Brown, Forward Notion – and keep an eye out for further remixes of theirs on the label in future…

Off the back of his recent Defected Compilation comes the summer sizzler ‘Desire’ from upcoming French producer Michael Canitrot.

After a week of scorching sun here in the capital, Kish Communications has something very refreshing for you all. Michael Canitrot’s new single ‘Desire’ in its original form is a huge funky house anthem that is laced with catchy sing-a-long lyrics. ‘Desire’ has been garnering massive support from the likes of Martin Solveig, Aaron Ross, Norman Doray and Pippi and has been heavily played on the radio and on the dance floor.

The single package has some great remixes in there for you, starting off with Mitch LJ & Mark Alston’s big-room peak time electro monster, which then moves on to Richard Earnshow’s retro take on the single – perfect for those that like a bit of slap bass and soulful sounds. Skye & Sugarstarr’s club mix is another peak-time piano anthem. This is pure Ibiza! Finally to complete the package is Tuccillo’s deeper, techier and twisted take. There is a dub available too.

All in all this is one essential track that is destined to cause a storm around the world!!!!

As an internationally respected artist/producer/remixer/DJ, David Guetta’s track record has been impeccable for nearly two decades. Now, in mid-2009, his career is reaching new peaks: “When Love Takes Over” featuring the lead vocal of multi-platinum pop-R&B songstress Kelly Rowland, is taking off as a world-wide smash, hitting #1 spot here in the U.K singles chart.

David’s also the track producer of Black Eyed Peas’ rousing new #1 US single, “I Gotta Feeling,” in whose video clip he makes a cameo appearance. And his upcoming fourth studio album, One Love, scheduled for August 24th release on Virgin Records, is an ambitious, ingeniously crafted album that sets forth nothing less than a bold and beautiful manifesto for the global pop and dance domination.

“Making this record with so many talented artists was such an amazing experience and the end result is an album infused with all the best flavors of contemporary pop music that will appeal to such a broad audience both on and off the dancefloor,” noted Guetta.

Significantly, it was Guetta’s own defining and assured musical viewpoint as a DJ and producer that attracted the A-listers who make One Love one of 2009’s most diverse and star-studded album projects. Kelly Rowland, for example, moved to tears at first hearing the instrumental work-in-progress that became “When Love Takes Over” on the dance floor at Guetta’s famed F*** Me I’m Famous party in Cannes, greeted him in the DJ booth, and was later given the track to write to. will.i.am, similarly, had first approached Guetta to contribute to a club-inspired album planned by Black Eyed Peas (the just-released Energy Never Dies) – and their collaboration snowballed to include two tracks on One Love: the out-of-control “I Wanna Go Crazy,” and “On the Dancefloor,” joined by apl.de.ap, a fresh evocation of the hip-hop/house fusions of the late 1980s.

Throughout the agenda-setting One Love, Guetta serves up a body-rocking, all-embracing blend of hip-hop, soul and electro – an audacious fusion that’s been sorely missed ever since rap and dance audiences became polarized at the turn of the 1990s. With a global following of nearly five million celebrants at over 200 DJ performances just last year attesting to his musical authority, it’s no wonder that Guetta has emerged as a catalyst and a curator of an exciting new musical hybrid, his magical producer’s touch bringing out the best in all his collaborators — even as accomplished a hook-meister as Akon, who sings the album track “Sexy Bitch.”

A rare dance album spotlighting its vocalists as well as its beats — each singer cast flawlessly in tracks tailored to their individual qualities — every one of One Love’s vocal collaborations is marked by arresting hooks, inventive musical development, and compelling humanistic messages. Notable among the guests who leave true personal stamps on each song is Chris Willis, the longtime lead vocal collaborator with whom Guetta has shared no less than seven top 10 chartings around Europe, who lends his larger-than-life, testifying vocals to the funky house of “Gettin’ Over” and “Sound of Letting Go.” Recent Grammy winner Estelle imbues the title track with a rich, luminous emotional grace; and Kelly Rowland turns in another vibrant and melodic lead vocal in “It’s the Way You Love Me” worthy of the most stirring of Donna Summer’s dance anthems.

Breakout stars Kid Cudi (“Memory”) and Novel (“Missing You Anymore”) also share surprisingly personal stories in a dance format; and, rounding out an album full of high points, Wynter, fresh off a worldwide hit with Flo Rida (“Sugar”), stars in the outrageous “Toy Friend;” and Makeba delivers “If We Ever,” a unique electronic confessional ballad.

The set-up single for One Love is in launch mode all over the world, ensuring that the album will be front-of-mind globally at its late-summer release: “When Love Takes Over” is currently #1 on the Billboard Club Chart and is now crossing over to top 40 radio in major markets, destined to become a runaway summer smash. BBC’s Radio 1 A-listed the song in advance of its official release in the U.K. Prior to official weekly chart publication, “When Love Takes Over” shot immediately to No. 1 in British and French iTunes single-song downloads.

David Guetta’s name is synonymous with the world’s greatest house and dance music, and with the parties that bring that music to life. Since releasing his first pioneering single “Up 1 Way” in his native Paris, France in 1992, David Guetta has sold over 2 million albums worldwide and over 3.2 million singles. He has been France’s No. 1 club DJ for a decade, and was named the world’s No. 1 House DJ in 2008. Attesting to his global appeal, Guetta is also a bona-fide YouTube star, holding the record for “most watched” of any artist in the electronic music genre with over 32 million views of his 2007 classic “Love Is Gone”.

In Europe, Guetta has previously released three chart-topping albums (Just a Little More Love, 2002; Guetta Blaster, 2004; Pop Life, 2007). Guetta and his wife Cathy are also famed for staging the mega-sized dance parties, F*** Me I’m Famous, for tens of thousands of house, electro, and dance-loving fans from Ibiza to Miami, New York, London, Barcelona and Paris. They have released four best-selling compilation packages of the same name.

It was a bit of a trip, but for some people it was right on their doorstep. One such lucky person was DJ Geri, a 30-year old producer who lives right in the middle of Barcelona.

Geri started DJing in 1995, and went on to win his first competition in the club Bámbola later that same year, which firmly set his career path to DJing and producing. He has been a resident at Club Chasis and Digital Evolution (Reus), and has played alongside some of the best DJs in the world, such as Armin Van Buuren, Sean Tyas, M.I.K.E., Markus Schulz, Judge Jules and Mark Norman. He recorded his first release “Danger Love” in 2000, and has since released on Total Wipes and Ocean Drive.

Geri currently also hosts three different “Trance State” radio shows, on www.afterhours.fm, on www.trance.es and on www.radio-onfire.com.in.

And he has a new release on Plastic Fantastic: “Orange Signs”, in a Vocal Club Mix as well as an Instrumental version. From Barcelona, It’s Plastic Fantastic’s 77th.
