Hed Kandi Beach House 2010

Hed Kandi Beach House 2010

Summer is officially here, nearly, and hot on its heels it is one of the most eagerly anticipated Hed Kandi titles of the year, Beach House. Hed Kandi’s Beach House encapsulates the feel of its spiritual home, Ibiza, and flies the flag for sexy, mid-tempo house with grooving Balearic basslines and sultry soulful vocals. The next offering however, falls on the milestone catalogue number HEDK100 so naturally, something extra special is in store. An ideal candidate for the 100th release, Beach House has a back catalogue littered with stunning material, so the inclusion of a third, mixed, classics CD is…

Markus Schulz - Las Vegas '10

Markus Schulz – Las Vegas ’10

“What happens in Vegas will no longer stay in Vegas…” – Markus Schulz

Touching down in new cities is almost as much a part of being a DJ as working the turntables themselves – a fact that’s never been lost on one of the world’s biggest DJs, Markus Schulz. It’s this ever-transforming melting pot of sound, sight and musical taste that fed his desire to capture them musically. And in 2005 that’s what he started to…

Hell & Christian Prommer - Freak It

Hell & Christian Prommer – Freak It

At the closing party of We Love, Space, Ibiza 2008, Buzzin’ Fly’s head honcho Ben Watt shared the terrace stage with Gigolo’s DJ Hell. In spite of being born in the same year back in the early sixties, it occurred to Ben how different their long trajectories had been through music in the interim, and yet there they were rocking the same crowd from the same stage. Not only that but Hell dropped an hour of the most gorgeous deep house before turning on the electro fireworks.

When Hell subsequently worked extensively with jazz-electronica experimentalist and previous Buzzin’ Fly collaborator…

Justice & Cassius present Club 75, Pacha Ibiza

Justice & Cassius present Club 75, Pacha Ibiza

Justice has never stuck to clearly defined roles. The fashionably thin, intensely Gallic duo of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay manage to both embody and defy stereotypes. They are intense in a well-educated, laconic, smoky Parisian sort of way (“we smoked 30,000 cigarettes making this record,” they said of debut album). Yet their music pops with rainbow colours and kiddie-friendly choruses. Without ever courting the music press they snared the world’s attention by upstaging Kanye West at the MTV Music Awards. The hip hopper’s onstage temper-tantrum ensured their notoriety to an audience that might never have noticed them otherwise.…
