Urban Torque proudly present Fear of Night, the debut album from Southend duo Relation. The stylish Fear of Night combines elements of classic 80s electro pop with crisp modern production. Fear Of Night is filled with songs that on the surface appear simple but on closer inspection reveal lyrical and sonic depths.

Relation have created an album filled with quality songwriting that focuses on themes ranging from the political to the metaphysical. The thought-provoking lyrics are matched by inventive melodies that work together to create evocative soundscapes. Stand-out tracks include the album’s first single Your Tiny Mind, a warning message about the power of the media and Lowest Common Denominator, a critique of free speech under the current government. Fear of Night is filled with provocative songs which will surely cement their place alongside fellow Essex electro alumni.

Andrew Leary and Oliver Keech aka Relation met as children in Essex. Though they both played in bands throughout school and university, the discovery of dance music heroes Orbital and Jeff Mills plus a shared love for the electronic pop giants of the 80s, was the catalyst for the duo to create Superenlightened. This underground, limited run debut single was released to great acclaim from DJs like Pete Tong, Sasha and Laurent Garnier. Superenlightened was also voted the BBC’s Dance Single of the Week.

This summer he packed his suitcase and “recordbags” and moved to Ibiza again. For the sun, the beaches and the parties, to the DJ’s and partypeople’s Mecca. Enfant Terrible and scallywag, turntable Samurai and DJ legend: Tom Novy, one of the world’s busiest House DJ’ s and producers.

Tom has shaped the international club scene for more than 15 years now. He adores the music and the parties and passionately celebrates both together with his fans. His international chart and club hit list meanwhile seems endless. In his early days he made his break-through with the now legendary and often cited “Superstar” single. Anthems like “Pumpin”, house hymns like “I Rock” or “Your Body” and radio friendly hits like “Take It” and “Now Or Never” followed. Also in 2008 he created an absolute masterpiece with his remake of “Rhythm Is A Dancer” as Novy vs. Snap, which the annual Beatport polls awarded the “Best House Track of the Year”.

His Ibiza base is the “Space”. On the club’s terrace he has rocked the Island’s best parties Sunday after Sunday over the last years. Since Danny Tenaglia was not able to continue last year’s successful Thursday Residency, Tom together with the Space management decided to take over Thursday.

This year Tom has arranged and mixed a top-class compilation entitled “Follow Me To Ibiza“ in co-operation with his label Kosmo Records as homage to his summer residence. On this album, club gourmets find previously unreleased remixes of classics such as BBE “Seven Days & One Week” by Tom & Jerry (Tom Novy & Jerry Ropero), Tomcraft’ s “Loneliness” by Orli & Da Ragnio, Da Hool’ s “Meet Her At The Loveparade” by TV Rock and “Exterminate” by Novy vs. Snap. It also includes remixes of his greatest hits, hot new stuff by the Maestro himself and insider tips such as Genji Yoshida, ZoeXenia, Fennek, EnoC, Adrian Bahil and Orli & Da Ragnio as well as brandnew tracks by colleagues such as Kid Massive, Oliver Lang, Per QX (Cover of Depeche Mode’ s “Everything Counts”) and Van Gogh vs. Eniac. It is completed by cult tracks such as Orli & Marties`”White Flower” in the Jerome Isma-Ae remix.

Tom has whipped up two DJ mixes for “Follow Me To Ibiza“. The somewhat more chilled “Deep As The Ocean Mix” which beautifully works both on the i-Pod at the beach and as sound track for the sundowner and the “High As The Novy Mix“ where the title is the motto: Crank it up.

Sonifiâ„¢ is a first-in-class audio/video remix engine for Apple’s iPhone. It allows users to remix a song on a portable device, a first for any software application. With world-class effects, the ability to access and change beats, bass, harmonic or melodic figures in real time, Sonifiâ„¢ represents a new class of software–somewhere between game, and content creation tool. Using the iPhone’s accelerometers, the user can even recreate BT’s Stutter Edit technique, just by shaking the phone…all in real time.

The first release version of Sonifiâ„¢ contains the ability to connect two iPhones or iPod Touch, over Bluetooth, enabling users to become a remix team. This groundbreaking application contains visuals that react to both touch, and the music being created.

Sonifiâ„¢ is available worldwide at the Apple iTunes store. Click HERE to download (opens iTunes).

Ashley Beedle’s blessed-out, disco-tinged rework of Bent’s “Magic Love” kicks off the Terrace Mix and sets the scene perfectly. It’s the perfect accompaniment to your summer!

The album bundle not only comes with the mix but also includes 14 individual full-length tracks, ideal for DJ’s to play out themselves.

Cosmic Gate have created and inspired some of the most influential music ever to hit our dancefloors over the past decade. This long player is a good indication of how the guys constantly push today’s musical boundaries, blending a perfect mix of trance and progressive combined with their tight production skills and the duo’s distinctive Cosmic Gate sound.

Sign Of The Times includes the massive Body Of Conflict plus 12 brand new, previously unreleased tracks with a leaning towards vocal-based songs. Sourcing new talent, Cosmic Gate have collaborated with several singer-songwriters from a variety of genres to help contribute different sounds and themes on this album.

Emma Hewitt who features on current single Not Enough Time has previously worked with electro DJ-producer Chris Lake and provides a poignant vocal for the track’s atmospheric melodies. Tommy Clint and Jades both bring a rocky edge to proceedings with tracks Only Time and Seize The Day with guitar riffs and bass mixed neatly with soaring synths. Tiff Lacey appears on album opener Open Your Heart that will satisfy all euphoric fans. There are also plenty of driving club numbers such as Artic Sunset and title track Sign Of The Times.

“Our personal goal was to create an album that works on the dancefloor as well as at home when you simply want to listen and enjoy. We worked with many new and known singer/songwriters, who were inspired by our music, as much as their lyrical skills brought out the best in us. We think our progression is reflected in these new songs, and we hope the fans follow our musical development since “Earth Mover”, and read the signs of the times’.

Cosmic Gate’s fourth milestone delivers a perfect, cutting edge mixture of vocal and instrumental tracks. With a tour diary fully rammed for the upcoming year, the duo continues on their path to gain followers and champion their forward thinking prog-trance sound – Sign Of The Times will win props from the world’s dancefloors and electronic enthusiasts in 2009.

I am sitting in rainy Recklinghausen and producing my album!

You recently joined forces with Paula Ferraro to make the track ‘The M Effect’ which has been picked up by McDonalds and used in a new advert. Can you tell us how this all came about?
My partner knew the chief of the pr agency, who produced the campaign. They needed the sound for it, and asked me to do it. Paula Ferraro did the vocals and I did the production. That’s the entire story. Not as interesting as you thought? :-)

Many of your singles have a slightly different flavour from the last but still retain that unique Moguai stamp. What’s the secret to your success of making original sounding tracks while still keeping that recognisable Moguai sound?
One thing is my musical history, maybe. I grew up with very energetic music, like Skate-Punk (Minor Threat, 7seconds or Hüsker Dü) and heard the Meteors, Batmobile or Guana Batz in my Mod and Psycho Billy period.

Further on I always listened to not so well known sounds and bands. They have all been pretty special. I was always driven by the new and different kind of music. That’s what I do in the studio today. I do what I like, and maybe that’s the reason why I have my own “Moguai style“.

Where do you see your sound going in the future?
That depends on the future. I will just try to let myself go and produce my sound. Although I am doing this for a very long time, my sound now is pretty different to the style I had back in the day. You could say, that I switched my style of doing music, although they all have my typical handwriting. I think it is a state of progress…

You seem to be going full guns blazing in the studio at the moment with releases ‘Kick Out The Jams’, ‘Sittin’ on Chrome’, your remix of ‘Cracks’ by Meat Katie and a new forthcoming project with Ramon Zenker all seeming to come out in quick succession. How much time are you spending in the studio at the moment?
I am in my studio from Monday till Friday and off for gigging on Fridays and Saturdays. Sounds pretty stressy and it is. But it makes such fun!!!!

What’s the most important part of your studio set up and why?
I have 2 babies in my studio. The first is my EMU sampler, who gives me the best results while jam sessions. Very old fashioned, ha? The second one is Ableton. It is pure fun to see what this monster is making possible…

Do you find it easy to use your laptop for making music and putting together ideas while on the road?
I never tried to be honest. I am pretty old fashioned ;-)

What other releases and collaborations have you currently got lined up?
I just did a session with Tommy Trash from Sydney, who was around in Europe for some weeks. And the next collaboration will be with my mate, Roman (Tocadisco). And of course: finishing my album!

Who would be your ideal producer or vocalist that you would like to work with in the future?
I would love to do a production together with Fatboy Slim, because I treasure his productions a lot. He is combining underground and commercial aspects in all his output in a perfect way. I think the mixture out of his soulful vintage sound brought together with my “angled” or “harder” Punx/Moguai sound would be very good….

You’re about to launch a podcast through iTunes titled ‘I Am X’. How often will the podcast be available for download and what can people expect from it?
Once a month you can listen to the newest Moguai sound! No old or new music, but a good and typical Moguai style. :-)

You released a successful compilation album this summer also titled ‘I Am X’ that captured the Moguai sound over two CDs. Can we expect more albums in the series? Perhaps even a live mix?
Yes, this will be an annual series always combined with 1 or 2 single releases and a couple of Moguai remixes.

Moguai and Friends are renowned for throwing some of the best and most memorable parties at the Love Parade. This year you even managed to bag Paul van Dyk for what was probably the biggest after party of the parade. How did it all go?
The party we do on the Love Parade Saturday night is called “1LIVE Rocker & Freunde“. The story behind it is that I founded a radio show called “Rocker“ on Germanys biggest radio station called “1LIVE“ 3 years ago. My colleagues that feature on the show every Saturday night are Paul van Dyk, Mousse T., Fedde Le Grand, Westbam. I think there is no other show with such a team. Once a year me and my team do this event with our friends… You got to come around next year. It is really massive!

You also played Sonne Mond Sterne festival in Germany. The line-up looked incredible with everyone from Moby, Richie Hawtin, Massive Attack, Simian Mobile Disco, Ricardo Villalobos and many more performing. How was the event for you and what other performances did you rate?
The SMS festival is something very special in Germany and not just because of the line up. It is really based in the German ‘deserts’. Even the trip is something special. The venue directly on a beautiful sea is just amazing. The promoter is like a family and have been doing it even after more than 10 years from the heart. You can feel this the whole weekend. The crowd is very ambitious which makes even more fun to play more experimental. The people there are very thankful when you surprise them.

What are the big differences in your opinion between playing the larger festivals and the smaller clubs and how do your sets differ respectively?
The difference is the playtime. It is just an hour or two that you have at festivals. You have to compress your set more than in a club, where you can play three or four hours. Which means that I am on the point after 10 minutes at a festival. In clubs this takes me an hour or something. And I am playing more “peaktime tunes“ at a festival, because 20-30,000 people in front of you want to escalate. And that’s I want them to do. :-)

What have been your highs and lows for 2008 and what else have you got in store for the remained of the year?
Highs:
Definitely the festival season with Nature One, SonneMondSterne and our own event during the Love Parade: “1LIVE Rocker & Freunde“

Lows:
None :-)

What else do you have planned for the rest of the year?
I am looking forward to finishing my album before the New Year and then playing the Sensation White in Dusseldorf on NYE!

Many thanks for your time iBeats!

What would you get if you took two of the biggest, most respected trance labels from not only the UK but from the whole scene, put them in a blender with their mighty fine track knowledge and know-how and perhaps bung in one big fat jug of Sangria for good measure? It would look like one big rank mess but sound like this double disc beauty of a release!

After the massive # 1 (UK & USA) iTunes success of last year’s Ibiza Trance Anthems 2007, the big bosses at Nukleuz and Maelstrom join forces once again to provide another collection of White Isle inspired beats.

Famed for being the biggest selling 12” label in the world for 3 years running to launching the careers of Fergie and BK to name a couple, Nukleuz are renowned for putting out meaty slabs of techno, trance, hard house and hardcore. Their mix includes tunes by king of hard beats Mauro Picotto (Ibiza Angel & all time classic Komodo), the Ferry Corsten championed ‘DJs Take Control’, the Paul Van Dyk & Carl Cox hammered Andy BopH ‘Rat Trap’, plus heavy hitters from Fonzerelli, DJ Choose, P.H.A.T.T, Pierre Pienaar and Judge Jules favourite Will Atkinson.

Set up at the beginning of 2001, Maelstrom focuses on artists and tracks from the techier end of trance and house, providing quality releases over the years from international talent such as Oakenfold, Chris Lake, Oliver Klein, Lange, Parker & Hanson and Tiësto. Starting their mix with this year’s massive summer collaboration from Blank & Jones ft. Bernard Sumner (Miracle Cure) other tracks come from the likes of trance legend’s Pulser (Sunseeker) and Lange (Out Of The Sky) also Russia’s no.1 dance music favourite Bobina (Invisible Touch).

The clubbing scene in Russia and Eastern Europe is massive. Think mega raves in castles, disused military bases, forests and much more. Their thirst for clubbing has reached fever pitch and there’s one DJ sitting at the top of the pile – Bobina, AKA Dmitry Almazov.

Some facts:

•	The only Russian DJ to appear in the DJ Mag Top 100 (2007, 2006)
•	The winner ‘Best DJ’ at the Russian Dance Music Awards (2007)
•	The only Russian DJ to participate at the massive Trance Energy Festival
•	The only Russian DJ to perform at the Miami Winter Music Conference
•	Remixes and releases on Nebula, Ministry Of Sound, Perfecto and Armada

‘Ask me to name one of the most talented producers in Russia and the first name that comes to mind is Bobina’ – Ferry Corsten

Many other top producers are ready to add their voices alongside Ferry. In an interview with Russia’s leading clubbing site Paul van Dyk said he admired Bobina’s work.

The Bobina project was founded in Moscow in 2003. His debut album Catchy! (2004) blew up trance floors across the country and became one of the biggest club soundtracks in Russia. At the same time two singles Lazy World and September Rain were released and established Bobina’s popularity in Europe through receiving support from Trance big guns such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and many other DJs.

Bobina’s second artist album Beautiful Friend was released in April 2006 and quickly became one of the most commercially successful releases of the year in Russia, with over 10,000 CDs sold in it’s first week, the video for the title track received heavy rotation on MTV Russia and MTV Dance UK.

The last two years have seen Bobina locked in the studio working relentlessly on his own productions but also on remixes for massive global megastars like Armin, Oakenfold, Thrillseekers and Supermode, all helping Bobina’s profile to steadily rise on a global scale.

In 2007 Bobina began work on this his third artist album Again, having already dropped one single from the album Lighthouse featuring Dutch uber vocalist Elles de Graaf which effortlessly opens the album and with another Slow, a cover version of Kylie Minogue’s chart topper about to drop, things look set to explode for Russia’s leading superstar DJ. Elsewhere on the album Trance vocalist du-jour Tiff Lacey lets lose on Where Did It Go, a sure fire peak time stormer, whilst the tempo moves up with tracks like Spinning with its Café De Mar-esque riff and the aptly titled Go Get Vodka which pours liquid adrenaline across the dance floor. In true Trance fashion the album rounds up with the back-to-mine laziness of That’s What I Did For You and finishes off with nicely with one last burn in the shape of The Last He Said.

On the worldwide DJ circuit, it’s time to look east people as Russia’s leading light Bobina is about to shine!
