Dave and Josh invoke what seems like the spirit of a young American primitive with his stunning production. The tribal essence is topped with a flamenco twist, as spiralling chants, soaring breakdowns and chiming lead lines battle for supremacy as Heyaah reaches anthem proportions.

On remix duty, Texan technology master Francis Preve takes Heyaah on a drum ride par excellence. With a groove held down by a super-heavy percussive pulse, morphing chants ebb and flow with an awesome wash of effects, stirring exotic emotions throughout. Stunning stuff.

Undefinable and different would be possible words to describe the follow-up to Gabriel’s ‘Tone Program EP’ (the opening salvo from Different Pieces in 2008). However, the name ‘Rubber’ couldn’t have been more fitting to this heavily distorted techno blend of sounds. A thick, stretched out whirl of bass, kicks and melodic stabs keep order in a house of chaos, as ‘Rubber’ limbers up to be one of the major dance floor destroyers in the through the summer months.

Nick Bugayev decided to dedicate his life to music. Not only does he produce, he also performs, dj’s, programs, composes, teaches and breathes electronic dance music. A few months ago he moved to Berlin to see if living in techno-land could inspire and stimulate his creativity. He was lucky. Within a short matter of time, he became a resident DJ, started his own label, had a few big releases and received some good feedback from none other than Josh Gabriel, who snapped up these two outstanding tracks for Different Pieces.

This release showcases Sanders’ unique and forward thinking DJ sets, reflecting his legendary club night of the same name which has touched down at major cities all over the world including London, Paris, Miami, LA and his native Amsterdam.

This special two disc affair sees the Dutch legend serve up some of the finest progressive, tech house and electro cuts around including ten unreleased tracks, eight Little Mountain Recordings tracks and one exclusive compilation remix to make the perfect soundtrack to your summer.

The first disc, ‘Left’, kicks things off with a laid back atmospheric slice of electronic bliss called ‘Summer Rain’ from Bpitch control’s starlet Sascha Funke. The mix builds effortlessly; blending a fine selection of different House styles including standout tracks such as David Keno’s ‘Replika’, Rainer Weichhold’s remix of ‘Push Push’ by Rockers Hi-Fi and the previously unreleased Sultan and Ned Shepard remix of ‘Asteroidz’ by DBN featuring Matida. This disc has a very sexy, uplifting and funky feel to it which just leaves you wanting more.

The second disc, ‘Right’, shows Sander’s rougher and tougher side. It commences with a spoken word vocal sample looping over Rene Amesz’s previously unreleased Electro/Tribal track ‘Ridicule’. The mix develops with some driving tech-house including Luetzenkirchen’s ‘Foxy’ and DJ Ortzy’s exclusive Dirty Flavor compilation remix of ‘Massive’. Sander powers the mix home with Dabruck & Klein’s dominant peak time electro remix of Joachim Garraud’s ‘The answer’ and concludes with Mason’s brilliant chilled Refurb mix of ‘Kippschwinger’.
This compilation truly displays how versatile Sander can be, drawing on a vast array of styles and using them in an innovative way to create his unparalleled sound. Each disc offers something slightly different and follows on brilliantly from his hugely popular first compilation in the series.

This release also celebrates Sander’s coveted Pure Pacha, Ibiza, residency where you will find him performing to packed crowds every Friday throughout the summer starting May 29th to October 2nd 2009, not to be missed!

Later this year, watch out for Sander’s première Artist album. The album contains a plethora of amazing new productions which he has worked on with US heavyweight Josh Gabriel. The first single from the album will be Sander’s remarkable new tune ‘This Is Our Night’ which has gained huge support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong.

Within a few years, Preve found that producing tracks and making music simply wasn’t enough. He wanted to explore the technology behind the sound. Moving to Austin, Texas – one of the tech epicentres of the USA – Francis began applying his experience to a variety of related endeavours, critiquing music software for the legendary Keyboard Magazine and crafting college-level electronic music courses for the Texas educational system. His role as a leader in the Austin electronic music scene soon led to joining the team at Nemesys/Tascam, where he assisted in the development of their revolutionary software sampler, Gigastudio.

It was at this point that Francis’s journey intersected with Josh Gabriel, who at the time was deeply involved with the creation of his own groundbreaking software, Mixman. Immediately, these kindred spirits found themselves becoming fast friends, with common interests ranging from obscure 80s artists to vintage studio gear.

The pair kept in close contact as Josh’s career skyrocketed with Gabriel & Dresden, while Francis became one of the synthesizer industry’s most in-demand sound designers. Preve’s work with world-class manufacturers on projects ranging from Ableton Live (and its numerous softsynths) to Korg’s state-of-the-art OASYS workstation solidified his role at the forefront of synthesis itself.

Soon after, Francis’s attentions wandered back to his first love and he found himself working as an in-demand programmer/musician for US pop DJs like Joe Bermudez and Roland Belmares. Chalking up a string of Billboard Top 10s for his work on remixes ranging from Martijn Ten Velden to Hilary Duff – not to mention his own original remixes for Gabriel & Dresden’s chart-topping singles – Francis began the trek home.

With a taste of commercial success under his belt, Preve found himself drawn back to that same musical underground where he began his journey, making music for fans who genuinely care about the art of sound and rhythm. As if to mark the occasion, the executives at Beatport tapped Francis to become their Technology Editor, sharing his production wisdom via the Beatportal community website.

Joining the Different Pieces family and working side-by-side with one of his closest friends can only be described as another milestone in Francis Preve’s incredible trip.

The release package includes a reinterpretation of the track by deeply respected Style of Eye. This version is quite unique, starting in a minimal space and soon reaching an unusual breakdown crescendo that makes you wonder what adventure you are about to embark on, before hitting home with intense power.

“Tone Program” is the perfect follow-up to Gabriel’s massive critically acclaimed release “Summit,” singled out by DJ Magazine as the No.12 Top Single of 2007. Currently Gabriel is putting the finishing touches to his first full-length solo artist album. Be prepared to be surprised! As a marked departure from his previous work, Gabriel’s solo work hones in on his darker, effusive musical house and techno side. “Eight” was inspired by Amsterdam, where most of the album was created, and where Josh was bursting with inspiration.
