Enhanced serve up the third instalment of their acclaimed Digitally Enhanced series, with 2 CDs featuring big recent tracks and upcoming material, from the label that’s fast becoming our favourite. At just 27, Will Holland is owner of Enhanced, a fine producer regularly appearing on this very page, and resident / promoter at Leeds event Digital Society – arguably the UK’s coolest trance night.

Anyhoo… you know what to expect from an Enhanced comp by now… there’s progressive offerings alongside the euphoria that the label does so well, and the tracklist features Will himself, Temple One, Ferry Tayle and Estiva, among others. That’s you told.

Now one of the most hotly anticipated compilations, Will Holland serves up Volume Three of the critically acclaimed Digitally Enhanced series this March featuring 100% material from “the hottest label around” (Trance.nu). Keeping to the same winning format, Will delivers two mixes of the most recent and over 20 exclusive tracks from Enhanced; the first disc including the more progressive offerings from the Enhanced stable whist the second disc goes for the jugular with 80 minutes of full on hands in the air goodness from “the label of the year” (MusiCritics), including exclusive new tracks and remixes from the cream of the Enhanced crop along with the latest new signings and recruits including Will Holland, Temple One, Estiva, Ferry Tayle & Static Blue, Adam Nickey, Suncatcher, Audien, Arty, 7 Skies & Kiholm, Andy Duguid, Steve Brian, Andy Blueman and many, many more!

At 27, Will Holland is regarded as one of the most influential young stars in trance today as the founder of one of the world’s leading trance labels Enhanced Recordings, acclaimed solo releases, collaborations and remixes and with his residencies for the largest clubs in the UK: Digital Society and Gatecrasher.

With the world’s leading dance music magazine Mixmag stating “the future of trance is in safe hands.” the young Leeds based dj/producer with an international tour diary and four international radio shows to boot continues to push the sound he loves forward.

With Enhanced being “the label story of the year” (Dj Mag) in 2009, this is your crystal ball into the label and Will Holland’s 2010; and we think you’ll agree it’s looking rather good indeed for the UK star and the label that is “one of the most famous labels today!” (World No.1 DJ, Armin van Buuren – ASOT)

Digital Society is proud to announce the release of ‘Digital Society International Vol 2′ mixed by UK Trance legend John Askew. Hailed as the ‘Holy Grail Of Northern Clubbing’ by the music press and without doubt the most talked about trance night in the UK at the moment with jaw dropping line ups and a packed house every month, this is second foray into the compilation market for the brand following the acclaimed first edition mixed by Matt Hardwick.

A true Digital Society favourite, John Askew is without doubt one of the hottest tech/trance producer/djs in the world. Over the last decade his productions and remixes have seen massive support from Armin van Buuren, Eddie Halliwell, Tiesto and Paul van Dyk who has employed John’s remix skills repeatedly on his highly respected Vandit label, whilst his excellent Discover labels are regarded as some of the best about.

From exclusive residencies at 2 of the World’s most influential clubs (The Gallery and Ministry of Sound in London) to a constant stream of high profile guest slots around the world, John is now enjoying the rewards of over a decade of hard work. In the past 3 years John has played on all the far corners of the globe including: North America, Canada, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Germany, The Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, China, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Greece, Ukraine, Georgia, and of course all over the UK.

Always one to push things forward and not go for the norm, John has crammed a staggering 47 tracks into the double cd; an amazing feat for a DJ mix compilation, especially in the trance genre. With tracks, re-edits and remixes seamlessly crafted into over two energetic hours of tech to peak time trance from the likes of Paul van Dyk, John O’Callaghan, Temple One, Activa, Aly & Fila and of course John himself, this is a master class in technical, crowd pleasing mixing and track selection.

Already selected by Mixmag as their ‘Compilation of the Month’ for November, this yet another must have CD from the Digital Society / Enhanced labels.

Available exclusively on pre-order today from http://www.enhancedrecordings.com and from all good record stores worldwide on the 2nd November.

If you go down to the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise… Leading Leeds club night, System, are temporarily ditching their city home, scaling up,- and shipping out to the 600 acres of Leeds’ 16th Century Temple Newsam estate. The enchanting and plainly beautiful surrounds are to be sound-tracked by three of electronica’s most revered artists, and cast under the spell of techno overlord Sven Vath’s magical Cocoon production: a sonic punch packing Funktion-ONE, the famed and glamorous Cocoon Club dancers from Frankfurt, and a northern light show to rival its natural polar namesake.
The scene is set, then, for some out-of-this-world house and techno…

Good job, as they don’t come much bigger than thoroughbred tech titan, Sven Vath. Since the early days of legendary techno gatherings at Germany’s Dorian Grey and Omen club, Sven has trodden his own path. Always picking tunes from, and producing tunes for, techno’s tougher reaches, Vath eventually decided he wanted his own platform. In 2004 he built one of the most technologically advance clubs in the world, whilst birthing one of the sharpest labels in the process. Cocoon parties have legendary status at Amnesia on the White Isle, and Vath’s annually released round up of the summer’s best electronic music is always an essential recording. Welcome to the world of Cocoon.

Joining the rave’s ring leader are another two of the planet’s coolest label bosses…

Moustachioed carnival house and tech purveyor Luciano is a party loving megastar with an impressive knack for weaving a rhythm. From the shabby booth of DC10, to the darkened caverns of Fabric, Swiss-Chilean Luciano has an informed and varied musical past which he uses to devastating effect, wherever he plays. Having cut his teeth alongside luminaries like Ricardo Villalobos during the 90s in Chile, then having spun all round South America and eventually Europe after moving to Switzerland in 2000, the varied and colourful rhythms Luciano lays down, as well as the man himself, are adored the world over.

Steve Bug is the other label leader to compete for your attention in the ancient woods, and compete he will. For ten years his label Poker Flat has nudged at the boundaries of EDM with streams of untouchable deep house and techno releases from the boss himself, and some other of the scenes main men. Its name spread like wildfire with Steve’s eternal minimal club hit “Loverboy” in 1999, and has only flourished since. The recently released Ten Years of Poker Flat LP sums up some of EDM’s finest moments, so it’s no wonder Poker Flat is established as the number one source for stripped down, futuristic house music under the expert guidance of minimal connoisseur Steve Bug.

Completing this compact but killer line-up is Adam Shelton. Spurred like many by the hedonism of 90s Ibiza, Adam began spinning the sounds he heard from there, as well as New York, Frankfurt and London. Skip to now and he’s the successful promoter of Birmingham’s freshest warehouse party, Below. Showcasing the best of the house and techno talent breaking through, as well as giving a stage to some of the scenes finest, it’s clear he knows his business, and is safe bet to back up the event’s big names.

Coupling the boutique nature and otherworldly setting of this festival, with headlining DJs who’ll rock the sunniest terraces around the world this summer, Cocoon in the Park is a genuine and affordable alternative to Ibiza, and is something Sven Vath hopes to curate again, every year from now.

Purveyors of the finest sounds in bass, breaks and beats, Metropolis are back at massive Leeds venue, Stylus, on the 30th of the month with a line up that will bring you to your knees. Relentlessly serving up the biggest names in Drum&Bass, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Breaks and Electro, and having already blazed through the start of 2009 with unquestionable style, they present to you the mammoth, record breaking Valve Sound System…

Tearing the speakers apart on the night are the guys behind the system, Dillinja and Lemon D, who are joined by the unstoppable Chase and Status, true Drum&Bass legend, Hype and Radio One pioneer of the sound,Mary Anne Hobbs. Completing the line up are pirate radio regular, Youngsta and long time producer, Lynx, there’s really only one way this night can go…

An unprecedented platform for the Drum and Bass sound, the Valve Sound System is specifically designed to kick out noise only ever previously dreamed of. The brainchild of major Drum and Bass stars, Dillinja and Lemon D, who’s careers span over 15 years involving endless parties, tours and productions, the set up is now world famous in the scene and provides a Drum&Bass experience that doesn’t let up.

Chase and Status, currently the only name on every lips in the Dubstep scene thanks to their massive success with single ‘Against All Odds’ ft. Kano, are once again dropping by to work the crowd up with their faultless Dubstep offerings. Gaining 3 number ones in the dance chart and endless backing from the biggest figures in the industry, they are smashing through the ranks at unstoppable speed.

One of the Drum and Bass scene’s most prolific artists, DJ Hype, has been a key figure in the expansion and development of the genre after 20 years in the industry. Not only a DJ and producer, he also hosts a show on Kiss FM, runs his own record label, Ganja, and is one of the most famous players in the global dance scene. A true D&B legend, there’s nothing this guy doesn’t know about beats and bass.

Mary Anne Hobbs is a true Dubstep warrior. Pushing the sound on her Radio One show, ‘Dubstep Warz’, she’s regarded as a key presence in the global Dubstep genre. After releasing a compilation last year, and further involvement with Radio One shows as well as various festivals, Mary Anne is rising through the ranks to become on of the most important figures in the scene today.

With an incredible energy and precision behind the decks, Youngsta is breaking onto the scene with formidable force. DJing from the age of 12, and making regular appearances on Rinse FM, his sound merges genres and switches vibes at hyperspeed. With a true understanding and passion for the scene, it won’t be long before Youngsta is tearing past the biggest dub stars…

Although relatively new to the mix, DJ Lynx has been kicking out incredible productions for years and his dedication in the studio is apparent in the skill and maturity of his frankly immense tracks. Already touted as the next big thing by Fabio and Grooverider, and having already made his Fabric debut, things are set to go sky high for Lynx this year, and all signs point to an incredible set at Metropolis.

Doubtlessly one of the biggest line ups this side of summer, this is going to be an eclectic eardrum busting affair with tireless bass, breaks and volume, expect to be rocking hard ‘til the bitter end for this one.

Having won Cream’s International Search For A DJ competition in 2006, the duo of Rory Lyons and Will Graney were soon criss-crossing four continents with their energetic and no-holds barred approach to DJing.

Remix work for the likes of Ladytron, Alex Gopher and Does It Offend You Yeah? followed and it was the pair’s first four-track demo of their own original material, which led to them being snapped up by Pieces Of Eight Records earlier this year.

Since then the boys trajectory has grown decidedly steeper, with first single proper -‘Retox’ – catching the ears of players including Erol Alkan, Jon Carter, Annie Mac and Annie Nightingale. Forthcoming offering ‘Don’t Lose Control’ continues the pedigree, taking a new wave indie base, plundering Rory and Will’s techno and band backgrounds and creating a guitar-infused electro admonition that “the pills won’t help you now”.

Remixes on the package come from retro-futurist trendsetter Headman, Kiss FM’s favourite party starters – The Loose Cannons – and Boston based remixers du-jour Hot Pink Delorean.

Currently acting as judges for Budweiser’s Rising Talent 2008 DJ competition, the Cassette boys are also busy in the studio with Mark Ralph of Filthy Dukes fame putting the finishing touches to their debut album, due next year on Pieces Of Eight.

From London to L.A, India to Columbia, Ibiza to Dortmund and Guatemala back to Leeds, the list goes on! 2007 saw Adam Sheridan take his show stopping, genre busting Electronic sound right across the Globe.

At just 24 Adam has achieved so much. His unique performances using Ableton live have left crowds stunned and wanting more: “I love to re edit and re create the music that I play live to suit the crowd. Ableton Live allows me to do this. Using 4 channels on the mixer plus the loop functions on the CDJs I can really twist and surprise the crowd” After building up both a massive Internet & clubland following, Adam has risen to become one of the most sought after electronic artists to emerge from the UK.

Next year will see him release new music on Vandit. Named after Adam’s recent trip to Columbia, “Ocaso” will be his first single for Paul Van Dyk’s internationally acclaimed label. His own record imprint Soundstage music will also be moving up a gear with “Supernova” being the first release to kick start 2008, this track is already a hot record for a number of big name DJs and a favourite right across the global club scene! Adam will also kick start a brand new night and residency alongside good friends Galaxy Radio presenters Riley & Durrant in his hometown of Leeds. The Electrik Playground will give Adam an opportunity to showcase his trademark genre busting sound to a regular audience: “I am really looking forward to playing in front of the same crowd on a monthly basis, it’s something I’ve never been able to do. I’m also really excited about seeing so many different types of electronic music under one roof”

So with record labels already set up, club nights in the making, performances being heard and talked about all over the world and a brand new radio show starting on Paul Van Dyk’s Voync radio, 2008 is looking to be Adams best year to date!

This summer Adam has been jetting out to Ibiza to help run and play at his own promotion The Electrik Playground alongside Riley and Durrant.

We caught up wiyth him to find out how the season has gone so far….

Who are you and What do you do?
I’m a DJ and producer. I spend all week in the studio making music, then when it comes to the weekend, I spend my time rocking dancefloors in clubs all over the globe!

What do you think of the dance scene in the UK at the moment ?
I think it’s good! There is a massive old skool buzz at the moment. Clubbers seem to be going for more underground parties, in secret locations than they do the commercial nights. As far as the UK based Dance artists and DJs go, I would say they are smashing it. We have some wicked talent over here!!

You currently jetted backwards and forwards from Ibiza. Hows that going and what have your gigs been like?
It’s been great and the gigs have been Mind Blowing. I have a residency at Cream/Amnesia. I’m out there 8 times in total this summer. One of the best ones so far was closing the main room after Ferry Corsten. The room was jammed right till the end! I’ve also made a couple of surprise appearances over the road at Privilige. Mine and my close friends brand “The Elektrik Playground” have been hosting Tiesto’s room 2. That also has been amazing. I closed the other week in the Coco Loco room and had all the Local Spanish ravers in going crazy, that was a different, but very good experience for me!!

You help run Electrik Playground alongside Riley & Durrent and Nick Ferguson. Electrik Playground is hosting the back room at Priivilege every week. How is the season going so far?
I’ve been over to nearly every party, I was only meant to be at 2, but it has been so good I just can’t stay away! To be working alongside the likes of Tiesto is a great buzz. They really make us feel part of the set up there, which is really nice. We had a problem on the first week. When we arrived are room didn’t have a sound sysytem in there. I was amazed the guys had the room up and running by 1 am. Fair play to the sound team that night, the room sounded amazing and was jumping all night!!

How did Electrik Playground come about?
Me, Nick and Andy always fancied doing something regular in leeds, but with the sound that we spin, there wasn’t really anything that suited us. So we decided to get together and create something.
We teamed up with Nick Ferguson who I’ve worked with in the past at Cream in Ibiza then came up with the name and concept! It’ s been a lot of hard work, so I’m glad there is 4 of us, but it has definitely been worth it!

Have you ever had any other dreams? Was your dream to become a DJ or did it come along the way?
I’ve been spinning in cubs since I was 15 now so yea.. I been chasing this dream for a while. I just enjoy he feeling you get from making people move! I’ve always been a mad music fanatic right from been young too so I guess this job is suited to me

When you go to clubs – can you enjoy the music or do you have the “professional error” and you are critical to how the other DJ is mixing and playing his set?
I just enjoy the music! If I go to a venue and I’m not DJing You won’t find me in the corner stroking my chin! I’ll either be on the dancefloor or making a fool out of myself somewhere.

Who are your biggest influences?
Would have to say Underoworld, The Prodigy, Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox. Those artists were the people that got me into the music that I play and love, and Sasha as well!! All legends!!

Best clubs in the world are …?
Tough Question. Zouk In Singapore, Amnesia, Space Privilige are all un real. The Arches in Glasgow, the Atmosphere in there is amazing! Reminds me of how the Orbit in Morley used to be and Fabrik in Madrid is Breathtaking as well!!

Where would you like to perform that you haven’t yet?
I’ve heard so many good reports about Argentina!! My management had to cancel 2 shows for me in Buens Aires last year… I was gutted!! I’m definitely going back after the summer in October though so I can’t wait. I also heard Brazil is amaing!! So hopepfully I’ll make it over there 2!

In Your opion who is the best DJ in the world?
At the moment… ? In my opinion… I would have to say Carl Cox. I had the pleasure of hearing Dubfire in Columbia back in January as well , he also blew me away!! I think what Tiesto is doing is also amazing and PVD is also a wicked DJ to watch!!

Are there any new genres out there in dance music that we should watch out for?
I think there is a massive cross over happening in EDM at the moment. Producers from their genre are bringing in other elements from different genres. Who knows where it’s going to go, it’s all exciting stuff at the moment as far as EDM is concerned!

Which song of all songs in the history of music would you mostly like to mix? (If you could pick any of them)
Would love to do that Way Out West tune that goes.. “And ooo and the stars…. “ Can’t think of the name right now. Amazing tune!!!

Do you play any instruments?
Yes I play the Keyboard. Use to play the Violin when I was younger too.

Ever wanted to be in a rock band?
Never crossed my mind to be honest!! I was completely anti rock when I was a teenager, although I find myself liking bands more and more at the moment. There is another element that is been brought into dance music at the moment. Thereis a lot of rock influences!!

Why can people find you playing for the rest of the summer?
I have 3 remaining dates left at Cream Amnesia. I’ll be at the closing of the Tiesto Party in the Electrik Playground room. I’ll be at Creamfields and also the sunrise festival in Poland. There ‘s an underground rave called Kiddstock at a secret location in the North east that I’m also looking forward to!!
