Celebrating 3 years of highly successful global parties, Toolroom Knights return to their London home; Ministry of Sound on Saturday, 21st November with a roll call of the label’s leading artists, hyped and ready for 7 hours of intoxicating sounds, an exclusive back-to-back main room DJ marathon, and a rare chance for you to catch the collective Knights together on one line-up to celebrate and smash-it in true Toolroom style.

Offering something a little different for the occasion, The Box sees Mark Knight & Martijn Ten Velden, Dave Spoon & D. Ramirez team up for an all singing, all dancing 5 hour back-2back show involving 4 CDJ’s, 3 mixers, 2 laptops, a whole world of FX and no doubt the odd house classic been thrown down. Funkagenda, launching his Toolroom Knights compilation, will close the room flying-solo with an array of Birthday bangers and exclusive personal edits. As friends, producers and DJ’s these are 5 of the most passionate talents working in the industry today, who between them have dominated the dance charts with a succession of big releases and tonight as the leading Toolroom Knights share a common goal…to tear a new dance floor in the main room for the Birthday.

Over in the Bar it’s all about a special DJ/live set from Grammy Award winning Dirty Vegas, fusing vocal elements of a live performance with the energy and beats of a DJ set. 2009 has been a hectic year for the DV trio, who’ve been back in the studio, had 3 major releases on Toolroom; Pressure, Changes and this summer’s IMS anthem Tonight, remixed big hitters Dizzie Rascal, Calvin Harris, Ladytron and announced plans for an artist album due early 2010. All eyes will be on the boys as they turn up their talents for this exciting Birthday appearance. In support, the Bar will be rocking to the sound of Toolroom’s future stars; Pete Griffiths, George Andrews, Mark Storie, Gina Star and the label’s latest ‘Leader of the New School’ Paul Thomas, looking to celebrate the release of his ‘LONS’ album. London party supremos Get Diverted host the Loft and Gifted bring the underground sounds to the Baby Box.

All in all, an almighty party to celebrate 3 years of Toolroom Knights and another guaranteed road-block.

And there’s MORE – Toolroom want to give a little something back as a thank-you for your continued support of their parties over the last 3 years, so all tickets purchased on the door will receive the latest Toolroom Knights CD mixed by Funkagenda FREE, and for advanced ticket holders the CD will be available on the night for £5. (this CD would normally retail in stores at £12.99!!)

This Saturday sees this year’s penultimate offering from Pete Tong’s residency Wonderland. Having caused roadblock on the streets of Elephant and Castle over the last year, this episode is set to be another perfect anecdote with some of the leading names in the industry, knocking up a twisted tale of epic house music.

One of the biggest names on the dance music circuit, Chris Lake, will be enchanting a floor full of clubbers in the Box for this Wonderland event. Following on from Mr Pete Tong’s lead, Lake’s atmospheric style of blended house and techno endeavours to drive an epic set of pounding beats right through to a darker turn on the electronic genre, topped off with a few dance favourites. First brought to our attention with his summer hit ‘Changes’ Chris Lake, not only gained chart success but also captured the attention of the clubbing community which aided in his rise to instant popularity. Joining him, another artist that tops the DJ ranks, Style of Eye makes his debut performance at the club. Having only been on the scene for the last 2 years, Linus aka Style of Eye, has gained instant recognition and respect for his quirky and independent sound. Breaking the unwritten rules of house music with his play on merging genres and heavily influenced dubby samples, he continues to cross over using dub, house, jazz and percussion as guidelines. The Box rounds up overall as a futuristic realm of forward thinking dance music.

The Bar, gets wonky with electro offerings from Tim Green, Rob Marmot and We’re Not Cool! South London’s very own, Tim Green has caused a stir within the industry with his new track ‘Kitch In’ dominating sound-systems all over the globe. Spinning out a mix of electro, house and tech-house he leads the way for residents We’re Not Cool! and Rob Marmot, to raise the roof with their twisted synths.

Once again, the Pied Piper of house Pete Tong takes control for a night of top class talent.

With voting numbers up on last year’s poll, it’s shaping up to be a vintage Trance Awards event in 2009. As a mark of the gravity shown to the project by the dance music industry, we are proud to announce the first official compilation album showcasing the best sounds the scene has to offer.

It’s not any old album either! Trance Awards have teamed up with Ministry of Sound’s legendary and much respected Euphoria brand to deliver a three disk set of sounds mixed by three of the headline DJs who will be performing at the packed out ceremony held at The Gallery in London on Friday 9th October.

Heavyweight trance heroes Sean Tyas and Simon Patterson have been lined up to mix two disks while space is given to new breed rising star Claudia Cazacu to showcase her sound on the third. Covering the Trance Awards’ remit of presenting the best of current and future talent, the Euphoria compilation is set to spread the vibes wider amongst the dance community than ever before.
Tyas and Patterson need no introduction to trance fans; their discography reads like a who’s who of A-list labels and over the last month they’ve collected more air miles than Judith Chalmers with individual shows in USA, Canada, Argentina, Poland, Holland, Ireland, UK, Switzerland and Ibiza! Claudia Cazacu has one of the biggest vocal trance anthems of the year and has performed at three of the Trance Awards events. Her tracks on Armind, Reset, 2 Play and own Couture label have gained her nearly 1 million MySpace page views from her 40,000 friends giving her the perfect platform to launch into stardom within the scene.

Trance Awards Euphoria album will hit the shops and download stores on Monday 5th October as the start of a week of celebration of the scene that culminates on Friday 9th October at trance institution The Gallery for the 5th Annual awards ceremony and party. Tyas, Patterson and Cazacu will be joined by heavyweights Markus Schulz, Menno De Jong, Jerome Isma-ae in the main room while Trackitdown.net DJ competition winners will be representing the new wave in their own room for fresh talent.

Trance music is now the world’s biggest dance music genre. In the UK, Calvin Harris has taken the sound to No.1, and in a OJ-mixed form, trance regularly tops the compilation charts. When it came to choosing who should revitalise their legendary Trance Nation series, Ministry Of Sound had only one outfit in mind – Above & Beyond.

Officially Britain’s most popular DJs, Above & Beyond were recently voted Best Group at the International Dance Music Awards, ahead of the likes of Daft Punk, Soulwax, Justice, and Pendulum. Now ranked No.4 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs Poll, their largest gig to date was in front of 1 million people in Rio, Brazil.

Through the mix albums on their label Anjunabeats, Above & Beyond have been awarded numerous compilation of the month reviews in the dance press, while their latest release is currently sitting at No.1 in the US iTunes Dance Album chart.

The trio are so renowned for their own compilations, that they’ve politely steered clear of mixing them for anyone else. That is, until now. When they were asked to relaunch the classic Trance Nation album series for Ministry Of Sound, the opportunity to stamp their mark was too good to miss.

“Ministry of Sound was keen to take the Trance Nation series back to its roots and approached us with the idea,” said Tony of Above & Beyond. “The early editions of the series were amongst the most complete records of their time, so we were keen to get involved.”

“We’ve picked the latest tracks from our favourite producers, remixers and artists to create a 160 minute mix that captures the trance scene as we see it in the summer of 2009,” he added. “As ever, our focus is on quality tunes, so we hope this CD will stand the test of time: that’s the Trance Nation legacy as we see it.”

Widely regarded as the world’s premier trance .and progressive house label, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint receives consistent acclaim from critics and dance music . fans alike. Under their Ocean Lab guise, which also features vocalist Justine Suissa, the trio of Tony, Jono, and Paavo, have established themselves as a leading force when it comes to intelligently written vocal dance music.

Grabbing the baton from Toolroom Knights label boss Mark Knight is French DJ/Producer legend Joachim Garraud, who steps up to deliver a cutting-edge mix of future classics and forward-thinking house music.

This double-disc collection covers the length and breadth of the house music spectrum, moving from shades of House right through to the current crop of Techno and Electro. It is a sound that Joachim has lovingly cultivated over many years of solid gigging and through releasing a staggeringly consistent collection of quality music.

CD1 is definitely on the techier spectrum of Joachim’s palette, kicking off with Sidekick’s ‘Deep Fear’. Joachim turns up the heat a little with Mark Knight & Funkagenda’s ‘Arena’, providing the mix with some pulsating rhythms and driving beats… Sebastian Gnewkow’s ‘Threshold’ reigns it back in with some noodly, bleepy tech-house and some nice melodic overlays. Lazy Jay’s ‘Hammer Down’ serves up some regimental pounding bass, which makes you wish you were in a dark and sweaty club. Joachim finishes off with the knob-twiddling Taurus & Vaggeli’s ‘Hello Paris’, which leads on perfectly to CD2.

CD2 starts off with a bit of old school flavour with Da Fresh’s rework of ‘Age of Love’ which leads on to some nice US house sounds, with a dash of hip-house thrown into the mix with DJ Bam Bam & Mixin Marc’s ‘The New Hip House’. Joachim’s own ‘Miami is BS’ (written specifically for this compilation) follows on nicely and mixes perfectly with Groovewatchers ‘High Level’. Olav Basoski’s ‘Roulette’ kicks in alongside Steve Aoki’s ‘Deadmeat’ and leads us to Joachim’s exclusive remix of the Paganini Traxx’ ‘Zoe’, which we are pleased to announce has been released here for the first time. Joachim’s new remix of the legendary BBE track ‘Seven Days and One Week’ follows and finishes off with another track that Joachim wrote specifically for this Toolroom mix ‘No Techno in this Room Please’.

With such a full musical career and undoubtedly one of the most influential names within electronic music, Joachim was an obvious choice to mix the next ‘Toolroom Knights’ compilation. We are sure you will think so too…

Sunday Sounds comes in two flavours to perfectly complement the time of day. The finest in deep and uplifting house music comes together for the “Sunrise Mix”, featuring an array of sunshine-fuelled beats and melodies. Salted Music head honcho Miguel Migs sets the scene perfectly with the sublime “So Far”, which leads into a blend of seminal tracks (Axwell, Milk & Sugar) blended with a host of upfront offerings.

The “Sunset Mix” takes the tempo down a notch, showcasing blissed-out sounds and soulful grooves to wind down your day. Kicking off with an exclusive jazz-tinged remix from master producer Rasmus Faber, the mix showcases a number of hidden gems – including an unreleased track from Deadmau5 collaborator Kaskade and a rare, poignant remix of Bent’s critically-acclaimed track “Swollen” by Dusted (featuring Faithless’ Rollo Armstrong). Another undoubted highlight also comes from Solu Music with a down-tempo rework of “Fade”, taking the sounds of the club and terraces into ultra-chilled territory.

So press play, kick back and let these sounds take over your Weekend.
