Funkagenda Interview

What was your overall approach to constructing a Toolroom Mix?

Toolroom has a rich reputation in the mix CD spectrum. How do you feel about being given the opportunity to contribute to the series?
It’s an honour as I guess it would be for any artist. I am glad that they were willing to put…

Snow Patrol – Late Night Tales

Snow Patrol – Late Night Tales

For the 22nd edition of the “excellent series of bespoke artist compilations – Uncut”, Snow Patrol present the world with an impeccably selected and mixed Late Night Tales.

If you think you know Snow Patrol, think again. Of course, there’s the band who are capable of outselling the Arctic Monkeys, getting numerous nominations for Brits, and monopolising the upper reaches the charts with alarming regularity with their superior song theory and balladeering.

This Snow Patrol have enjoyed platinum sales of their ‘Eyes Open’ album (in both UK and USA) and musical appearances on everything from Spiderman 3 to Grey’s Anatomy. This Snow…

M.A.D. – Brainwaves

M.A.D. – Brainwaves

Demarkus Lewis and Michael Shilling (aka DJ Mike London) have put their heads together to create an imperturbable summer’s antidote to busyness and bustle. Sauntering at a languorous pace ‘Brainwaves’ draws the listener along into the depth of its serene musical oasis. \\1. Brainwaves (Main Mix)
Enchanting deep house music wrapped in comforting swirls of synth and presented upon a heartening baseline that gently massages into compliance.

\\2. Brainwaves (Dub Mix)
More of the same tender, reassuring depth.

Sometimes sacred cows enjoy new pastures, and in this case, James Talk & Ridney’s reworking of ‘West End Girls’ comes with the blessing of its proud owners, the Pet Shop Boys (themselves no strangers to clubland).

A monumental slab of feel-good summer house, ‘West End girls (2009)’ is currently firing up dancefloors here and in Ibiza, and has just been made an Essential New Tune on Radio 1 by Pete Tong.

Instantly recognisable from the first few chords, ‘West End girls (2009)’ takes the original firmly onto today’s dancefloor, with enough electro flourishes to make it an anthem for a new…
