May 6th, Ibiza – Once more Pacha returns to demonstrate us why it is the reference club with a music programme that will fill Ibiza´s nights with beat and amusement. The more than five hundred thousand tourists that every year visit the Island will have the opportunity to enjoy the best electronic music in its widest sense.

From that date on Pacha will host the session that has trespassed our borders, “F *** Me I’m Famous” every Thursday till September 30th. Will.I.AM, vocal of the renowned band Black Eyed Peas will be the big surprise of this summer session, which for only two dates (on June 3rd and July 1st) will show us how he works with the plates.

On May 28th, a mainstay amongst the top festivals, the French band Justice will inaugurate the session “Pure Pacha” with Cassius that will amuse the club every Friday with dance heavyweights such as: Sasha, Trentemoller, Cassius, and Sander Kleinenberg, Paul Oakenfold, Royksopp, and Darren Emerson. Once per month we will have the parties Club 75, Renaissance, Wall of Sound and Fedde Le Grand. Justice will be back to the island on August 13th.

The great Erick Morillo, one of the most important DJ’s of the moment, will delight his unconditional ones every Wednesday with the elegant “Subliminal” session from June 1st until September 29th. In this party the House music will be the lead. Big surprise on August 4th, for a unique session the renowned rap singer and producer P Diddy will join genius Morillo on the plates. Other guests on Wednesday´s sessions will be M.A.N.D.Y, Louie Vega, Dirtysouth and Sneaky Sound System among others.

Flower Power parties will not be missing, where Pacha dresses up according to the magic of the 60s and 70s. A party to dress up as they used, smile as never before and dance with your soul. However, this year they will take place on Tuesdays on six unique dates: June 8, July 6 and 20, August 10 and 24 and September 14.

Taken from the critically acclaimed Invol2ver album, ‘Eclipse’ and ‘Midnight’ get the remix treatment from two of the most exciting producers to emerge in recent years – Butch and Nhar. Personally selected by Sasha following his support of many of their own productions in his sets, both have delivered incredible interpretations…

Butch’s take on Sasha’s Ray LaMontagne collaboration is a furious slice of tech-house. “The original ‘Eclipse’ is quite deep,” explains Sasha, “So when we decided to have it remixed, we wanted to take it up a few notches, both to offer variety and make it suitable for those peak time hours.” The resulting mix is a builder in the purest sense. Butch adds in layer upon layer of sound as the variation drives towards its climax, where the innovative use of two mini-breaks in quick succession drown the listener in an intense audio wave; a unique ‘moment’ that never fails to work wherever its played, be it the centre of a dancefloor or thrashed through the iPod headphones!

Nhar’s re-work of Charlie’s ‘Midnight’, contains all his emotive hallmarks founded by a driving kick, a part that’s pretty much omitted from the original, as Charlie explains, “Although there’s a lot of energy in ‘Midnight’ it doesn’t have a traditional 4/4 beat. Nhar really was the perfect choice to re-imagine the track for the dancefloor, his contemporary, yet melodic style, provided him with an immediate understanding of the original and where it then needed to go. I’m delighted with the outcome”

With the original mixes also featured in their full-length, fully mastered guise for the first time, ‘The Midnight Eclipse EP’ is a very welcome addition to the emFire roster.

Deconstruction Records is back. In a joint venture between Sony’s Senior Vice President of A&R Mike Pickering, one of the label’s founder members, and Three Six Zero Group’s AnD press, the dance imprint has returned with a series of back catalogue releases before signing new artists later in the year.

The label’s first re-release is Sasha’s ‘Xpander’, digitally re-mastered at Abbey Road and available via Beatport for the first time in original and 7” versions. Following this will be Lionrock’s ‘Packet Of Peace’, complete with the seminal Chemical Brothers’ remix.

A decade on from its original release, ‘Xpander’ is considered one of Sasha’s most enduring ‘classics’. Co-produced with Spooky’s Charlie May, its instantly recognisable synth lines still send dancefloors into raptures, and as a much sought after piece of vinyl on ebay and other collector sites this digital release should appease global demand.

Sasha needs little introduction. Britain’s most iconic DJ and producer remains one of the most enigmatic figures in global dance music. Last year’s Invol2ver album was met with widespread critical acclaim, and on the production front his new label emFire has become a go-to stable for his own music. His recent remix of Doves’ ‘Jetstream’ will soon be joined by re-workings for Pole Folder (‘Hate Myself’) and Damian Lazarus (‘Spinnin’). He will shortly embark on a North American tour followed by Australia (see www.djsasha.com for details).

RELEASED 5 OCTOBER (BEATPORT)

Pole Folder returns to the fold with his latest single from his La Tour label, Hate Myself. which has been remixed by the master himself, Sasha.

To those with even the most passing of interests in dance music, Sasha needs no introduction. Few of his peers can match his outstanding contributions to driving forward the house music genre, or claim such a dedicated army of fans – both of which have ensured his consistent presence amongst the world’s Top 10 DJs for the past decade.

Sasha’s remix is true testament to his legendary status, lending his perfect ear to add a beauty and timelessness to Pole Folder’s already faultless original. Hate Myself is not your traditional peak-time hit, but with Sasha already testing it out on the road, it seems to be working as his current dancefloor destroyer!

In trademark Pole Folder style Hate Myself has a melancholic vibe, which Sasha then merges with an intense bassline, and intertwines noodly, scratchy overlays. The surreal chanting vocal staggers in and out, while the driving bassline, the sudden clanging, and the ominous, disjointed sounds all seem to merge to form a fluid cacophony of sound. Any fan of Involver will love this!

Pole Folder says “Since I discovered Sasha through Northern Exposure 1 he has continued to blow me away… Having Sasha do a remix for La Tour is a dream come true for me.”

Hate Myself will be La Tour’s 5th release this year, and is the perfect single to cement their reputation as one of the best up and coming labels of 2009. Pole Folder is currently locked in his ‘80Hz’ studio writing his second album “The Helsinki Accord”, due for release winter 2009. This will feature the original of Hate Myself.

There’s no question that Charlie May is a true purveyor of Electronic Music, and he makes a welcome and long-overdue return with his debut single ‘Apache’ from his new label imprint Mayhem.

Never one to travel in a straight musical line, Charlie fully exploits the opportunity to explore the length and breadth of his creative capacity with ‘Apache’. Charlie says…

“I’m feeling my way around, getting back into the solo headspace really, which is cool. There’s so much cool techno stuff about at the moment which is really inspiring me.”

Alongside the dance-floor orientated cuts on which he has built his reputation, Charlie straddles moods of ambient, techno and electronica whilst constantly maintaining a melodic and highly emotive core. The sound is familiar yet fresh.

‘Apache’ has a driving deep, dark bassline with endless textures and rhythms and trademark Charlie sounds. The scratchy chords give it that Detroit’esque sound, whilst muffled robotic-tinged orchestral flutters underpin a lush arpeggio of warm synths.
‘Apache’ is the perfect first single from the man who knows all the right moves in creating his own brand of musicality.

2009 is going to be a big year for Charlie May… stepping out of the Sasha shadow, Charlie has a fair few singles up his sleeve for labels such as La Tour, and is currently working on remixes for Glenn Morrison alongside Robert Babicz for Bedrock. Charlie also recently released a new mix compilation for Platipus under his Spooky moniker which has been receiving some great reviews.

“I’m focusing on singles for a bit but I’d also like to do an album – its something I really want to do. That would be a big achievement. It’s all guns blazing really – watch this space.”

And you really should…

After setting the scene alight with numerous killer singles, Pole Folder releases his hotly anticipated new single ‘Hollow’ with remixes from Robert Babicz and Angel Alanis.

Pole Folder has emerged as an intrinsic part of the emotive dance music juggernaut that has been steadily powering through club land over the course of the last few years… Alongside DJs such as Guy Gerber, Guy J, and James Holden, Pole Folder has been at the forefront of a movement back towards the melody rich sounds on which House music is based. His first 2 releases on label La Tour garnered huge support from the likes of Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Carl Cox and Christian Smith.

This offering starts off with Pole Folder’s original, which features the vocals of Sean Ryan, delivering epic slabs of sound, stacked atop glitchy lo-fi drums that result in a listening experience that simply swallows you whole. The vocal – whilst gritty – retains a rich and lush quality that is the perfect overlay to this track.

Robert Babicz is a true techno legend, with releases and remixes on labels such as Phonique, Audiomatique, and Kompakt. Renowned for his graceful and crystal clear productions, Robert’s mix offers a subtly restrained take on the original. Flourishes of synthesis and noise appear and disappear as the track travels patiently through peaks and troughs of intensity. Marrying dark, deep, driving basslines and sweeping orchestral overlays, this remix is perfect for the upcoming summer nights. A dub version is available too.

Chicago DJ Angel Alanis has rised to the challenge and given La Tour a couple of remixes to play with – one ambient; for that post-club or chill-out moment, and one that is more fitting in the likes of DC10 on a Monday (we’ve all been there!)

Pole Folder is currently locked in his 80hz studio writing his second ?album ” The Helsinki Accord”, which is due for release later on this year. The album promises to be an elaborate soundscape, with driving beats, shimmering synths and journey-like qualities, embodying characteristics from all manner of House music.

With his new single ‘Hollow’, Pole Folder has without question delivered a package that is brimming with soul that leaves you doubtless of his sonic capabilities.

Egostereo are comprised of Sandrino Beesley & Danny Minkella. They have been crafting a name for themselves with releases on Baroque and Toca 45, and now unleash their new production ‘Paeonia’ on the dancefloors: a track that has already gained support from heavyweights Sasha, Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo. No wonder Paeonia has found it’s way into such esteemed record boxes when you hear the quality of the production values that permeate every part of their studio work.

The original mix combines an ominous bassline with handclaps and insistent percussion that set the tone for a very special little workout. These layers are joined by an irresistible riff, which invokes a euphoric vibe, without losing the necessary dancefloor sensibilities. As the breakdown the arrives, striking stabs mirror the lead line and eerie synth pads echo these chords to provide a true moment.

Completing the package is a dub mix, offering a stripped back version of the track, and Egostero’s own re-edit both of which play on the memorable riff to great effect.

Originally set up in 1994, Christian Smith’s Tronic label holds a special place in techno circles. A leading force in shaping a less purist techno sound Tronic was amongst the first labels to embrace sounds from house and techno and to create records that DJ’s from both scenes would play; and now in 2009 Tronic is making a very welcome return with a series of exceptional releases.

2009 has already proved to be a landmark year for Psycatron. Having been a mainstay of the techno scene in Northern Ireland for the last seven years via residencies at the legendary Shine and latterly Stiff Kitten, Psycatron’s profile is about to move to the next level with a string of high profile releases on some of the world’s best respected labels.

Carl Craig’s Guilty Pleasure off shoot label, the uber-underground Simple Records and Fergie’s impressive Rekluse imprint have all hosted Psycatron productions that have gained serious attention from tastemakers such as Sasha, Carl Cox, John Digweed and Dubfire. Now Tronic are proud to unveil what we think is the biggest release of the lot.

Directions is a soon-to-be-techno-anthem. Built around an instantly memorable vocal hook this is a genuine big room tune for the summer. Pitched to a chugging groove and mounted on a low, throbbing bassline, no time is wasted in introducing the looped vocal hook that builds and drops towards a sprawling, crowd-pleaser of a breakdown.

Backing up the package is the equally impressive Tipping Point. Appearing in two versions, the 3am Front Left Speaker Mix is a shimmering, bass-heavy fusion of old school techno riffs and soaring strings while the Delusions Of 315 mix has a percussive, drawn out brooding vibe, twisting out the monster bassline with distorted effects.

To coincide with their only joint UK festival performance this summer we are very pleased to bring you Sasha & John Digweed’s first joint video interview in many years! Usually shying away from video interviews we were lucky enough to catch this legendary duo on a recent trip to London. As both DJs are veterans to South West Four and as they are rarely are interviewed together, we are absolutely chuffed to be able to bring you this exclusive as the duo discuss their first joint UK festival performance together in two years, life on the road, their individual projects and more. This really is a rare treat for any fan and an insight into the lives of this duo as they prepare to unleash their sound on this summers South West Four festival.
