Demarkus Lewis and Michael Shilling (aka DJ Mike London) have put their heads together to create an imperturbable summer’s antidote to busyness and bustle. Sauntering at a languorous pace ‘Brainwaves’ draws the listener along into the depth of its serene musical oasis. On the remix, Stephen Lopkin adds a little Latin vigour and electronic debauchery to shake things up and provide something for the less salubrious night-time setting.

\\1. Brainwaves (Main Mix)
Enchanting deep house music wrapped in comforting swirls of synth and presented upon a heartening baseline that gently massages into compliance.

\\2. Brainwaves (Dub Mix)
More of the same tender, reassuring depth.

\\3. Brainwaves (Stephen Lopkin Mix)
Lopkin mischievously introduces Latin beats and techno squeaks and splutterings to up the intensity and morph his mix into a more dancefloor destined track

Bio:
An established DJ and producer of many years, Demarkus Lewis has released on such labels as Swerve Records, End Recordings, Slip n Slide, Low Down, and Brique Rouge. He runs record label Grin Music.

Michael Shilling has produced music released on Ovum, Grin Music, Rhythmic Deep, Color Recordings and Kapa. He also runs the Rhythmic Label Group, including the Rhythmic Tech and Rhythmic Deep labels releasing music from many talented producers from Detroit and Chicago such as Adonis, John Beltran aka Indio.

Those lucky enough to catch Cicada’s sensational appearance at the iTunes festival with David Guetta last week witnessed the roof being torn off during their new single ‘Psycho Thrills’… and with remixes from a throng of Europe’s finest talents – DJ Delicious, Aniki, Baldo & Dyebox – Cicada have put their dance music fans at the forefront of their minds.

Better known for turning The Editors and Depeche Mode into modern dance floor destroyers, Cicada originally came to exist as the remix and production duo of Aaron Gilbert and Alex Payne, and in no time released a series of acclaimed remixes for artists as diverse as New Order, Chelonis Jones, Electric Six, and even lad-rock heroes The Enemy. Through word-of-mouth and electrifying live & DJ performances, (and with zero marketing spend), their debut album ‘ Cicada’ sold over 30,000 copies and their just released album ‘Roulette’ looks set to follow.

In the past 2 years the Cicada has toured the world, becoming a festival and club staple in Australia, South America & Europe, performing alongside the likes of Cut Copy, Groove Armada and Deadmau5. After a slew of live gigs, Cicada have missed the dance floor terribly, and have decided to go back to their ‘dance’ roots, reeling in a succession of quality remixes for ‘Psycho Thrills’. With DJ fans such as Axwell, Dirty South, Pete Tong, Groove Armada and Chris Lake – I am sure this comes as a welcome piece of news!

DJ Delicious is first in and serves up a generous dollop of German Tech-Funk… Robotic-tinged, with remnants of the original vocal this is a beefy number that is perfect for that big room moment. Meanwhile, Swedish Homeboy Aniki definitely wins hands down for one of the wonkiest breakdowns of the year! A ridiculous bassline and fidgety to the core – this is a monster track you would expect to sit in the record boxes of Herve, Switch and Micky Slim.

Baldo, the man behind the massive ‘Swahili song’, lays down some melodic, Techy loveliness. Very stripped back, this is a nice 4am number. Newcomers from Munich, Dyebox, finish off proceedings with their Kitsune’esque full-on vocal number (accompanied by a bonus dub). This track is pure Retro Electro.

Cicada’s Capricorn Original Mix is thrown in for good measure in all its pop glory. So very catchy!! So simply, something for everyone and a record that will be huge on the dancefloors this summer…

Remixes: Dj Delicious, Aniki, Baldo, Dyebox
Released: 14th Sept ‘09
Label: Critical Mass

Off the back of his recent Defected Compilation comes the summer sizzler ‘Desire’ from upcoming French producer Michael Canitrot.

After a week of scorching sun here in the capital, Kish Communications has something very refreshing for you all. Michael Canitrot’s new single ‘Desire’ in its original form is a huge funky house anthem that is laced with catchy sing-a-long lyrics. ‘Desire’ has been garnering massive support from the likes of Martin Solveig, Aaron Ross, Norman Doray and Pippi and has been heavily played on the radio and on the dance floor.

The single package has some great remixes in there for you, starting off with Mitch LJ & Mark Alston’s big-room peak time electro monster, which then moves on to Richard Earnshow’s retro take on the single – perfect for those that like a bit of slap bass and soulful sounds. Skye & Sugarstarr’s club mix is another peak-time piano anthem. This is pure Ibiza! Finally to complete the package is Tuccillo’s deeper, techier and twisted take. There is a dub available too.

All in all this is one essential track that is destined to cause a storm around the world!!!!

Ben Preston debuts on Lange Recordings with his new single ‘The Choice Is Yours’. Ben is one of the hottest producers around right now, with his productions receiving considerable support from Tïesto, who signed the tracks ‘False Alarm’ and ‘Elizabeth’ to Black Hole and Songbird. The 21-year old is also one-half of the dance outfit Tastemakers, who have remixed tracks for Data and had airplay on BBC Radio 1. Ben’s sound is a combination of progressive house and trance which features emotive melodies, engrossing percussion and rolling grooves.

‘The Choice Is Yours’ features remixes by PoisonPro and Evol Waves. Fresh from his recent release on Lange Recordings, PoisonPro has delivered a superb rework of the track. He uses the main elements of the original and some interesting effects to create a haunting, melodious vibe which will leave you reaching for the repeat button. Completing the package is a remix by Evol Waves, a young producer from Georgia who is beginning to make a serious impact in the scene. He takes the track in a tech direction which is sure to suit those later sets.

It was a bit of a trip, but for some people it was right on their doorstep. One such lucky person was DJ Geri, a 30-year old producer who lives right in the middle of Barcelona.

Geri started DJing in 1995, and went on to win his first competition in the club Bámbola later that same year, which firmly set his career path to DJing and producing. He has been a resident at Club Chasis and Digital Evolution (Reus), and has played alongside some of the best DJs in the world, such as Armin Van Buuren, Sean Tyas, M.I.K.E., Markus Schulz, Judge Jules and Mark Norman. He recorded his first release “Danger Love” in 2000, and has since released on Total Wipes and Ocean Drive.

Geri currently also hosts three different “Trance State” radio shows, on www.afterhours.fm, on www.trance.es and on www.radio-onfire.com.in.

And he has a new release on Plastic Fantastic: “Orange Signs”, in a Vocal Club Mix as well as an Instrumental version. From Barcelona, It’s Plastic Fantastic’s 77th.

Sander Kleinenberg’s ultra hot Little Mountain Recordings is back with its latest release entitled This Is Our Night.

Little Mountain Recordings has previously brought you releases from artists such as Max Graham, Patch Park, Rene Amesz, Funkagenda, Muzikjunki, 16Bit Lolitas, Cyro and and from Mr. Kleinenberg himself of course. It is a label that successfully straddles quality underground dance music with tracks that have plenty of potential to crossover to become anthems in their own right.

This Is Our Night is the brand new single taken from the highly anticipated forthcoming studio album (due Feb/March 2010), and has been causing maximum impact for a select few DJs the world over, and in particular for Sander in his sets. The catchy lyrics, infectious hooks, pumping bassline and overall production quality will ensure that this track will be a smash from Ibiza to Ireland, Berlin to Buenos Aires and London to Lima this summer. It really is a standout peaktime track. We at Little Mountain Recordings are now delighted to announce its full release.

This Is Our Night is Sander’s official follow-up to This Is Miami on his own label and a real continuation of form as you would expect from this much-travelled Dutchman who is at the top of his game. Indeed, Sander’s forward-thinking approach to the scene, in particular his desire to embrace the Pioneer DVJ setup, also adds another dimension to the Sander club experience. With a highly-effective video clip that Sander has of course road tested in sets from Pacha to Ministry and far beyond, expect this track to sell by the bucketload after giving clubbers that extra visual dimension in peaktime clubland. Additionally, however, this track fits perfectly into straight-up club sets, and is also ideal for widespread radio play.

The release, with remixes from Rene Amesz and Ned Shepard, is the first part of a two part release. This Is Our Night has an ultra-hot 2nd package forthcoming. The second package follows a month after the initial release. On remix duties are Dutch talent Rene Amesz, American Francis Preve and of course this year’s man of the moment, Deadmau5.

June 2009, London: The sun’s blazing down on the City. Temperatures have even been topping those in the Med. Yet Omid’s new release – ‘The Epic’ – is still giving us goosebumps. Making the hairs on our necks stand to attention. Indeed, not since Omid collaborated with Morel on ‘Escape (Driving to Heaven)’ has he committed to such a ‘hooooj’ and ambitious choon. Defining a massive new moment for SexOnWax in 2009, ‘The Epic’ is the past, present and future, combined. Honest, hands up, heads down House Music – a moment stretching out into infinity….

Just listen to the instrumental Dub Mix. This monumental wave of sound rises fiercely up out of nowhere to reveal an insane rip current of beefed up beats and bass. The synth pads surge ahead, with percussive embellishments supporting the ride. It’s an adventure of box-your-head-in proportions. And how the bottom end moves with the piano chord progressions is something else approaching a symphony. The irresistible ‘piano loops of love’ that explode between your ears after the beat drops and the bowel-rumbling bassline returns. The arrangement of this polyrhythmic mind trip positively swaggers. Cruising through eight and a half minutes with apparent ease.

Alternatively, you can head for the Vocal Mix, where the song is at its most melodious, harmonious and uplifting. Here, you are welcomed onboard by growling synthesiser pads and a crushing kick drum. The journey begins… and the excitement grows. Guitar licks and a rippling bass line, recorded live by Omid, add muscle to rhythm and nurture the groove, always The Groove. The flow continues. Introducing the lilting vox of French chanteuse Anysa. Her dreamy delivery comes straight from the heart, as we always appreciate here at SOW. Needless to say, cooking in the heat of all this epic-ness are some bionic builds and rapturous hooks. All together gathering a cosmic momentum that we reckon will have us reaching for the sky, all summer long!

What else to say but ‘The Epic’ is here, as large as life, ego-free and definitely built for an eternity!
