The boys have just finished recording their new single ‘No Manners’ which features South African artist Spoek Mathambo, the track is currently being remixed by Arveene & Misk and will be released in February on Marine Parade.

The Evils are also working on material with Leftfield hip hop star B Dolen from the ultra DOPE US label Strange Famous.

We can now announce that BURNS will be supporting the US’ biggest dance star, Deadmau5 on his North American tour, with over 30 dates covering the USA and Canada (full list of dates below).

Now a regular fixture in Hype Machine’s Top 3, BURNS has been called up for remix duty by Kasabian, Empire of the Sun, Late Of The Pier, Passion Pit, Filthy Dukes, Yuksek, Melanie Fiona, Calvin Harris, and the Gossip.

BURNS 3 (Teknique EP) is the third instalment in his 4 EP series. The previous release featured ‘Turbo’ and ‘Heartbeats’, (plus a Jokers Of The Scene remix of ‘Turbo’).

Born on Halloween 1985, he’s the son of a painter mother and a professional heavyweight boxer father. Burns enjoyed a childhood spent combining amateur boxing with learning to play the piano and guitar, discovering the delights of sampling software in his spare time.

While BURNS has gained notoriety for the kind of sonic bursts associated with European stalwarts such as Justice and Boyz Noise (but stamped with the kind of rave (un)sensibility that could only come from a British upbringing), there’s far more in his kitbag than all out aural assaults, hence his support from a wide range of DJs including Erol Alkan, A-Trak, DJ Mehdi, Dubfire, Don Diablo, and beyond. His ear for melody shows he can match the likes of Falke and Lindstrom note for blissful note.

The ‘Teknique EP’ once again points to BURNS’ ability to pursue his own musical agenda through a variety of styles. ‘Teknique’ is an epic dancefloor banger, with a seismic piano riff; ‘First Move’ is a quirky, off kilter stride through filtered loops and effects, while ‘In My Eyes’ is the latest missive from his disco arsenal, drawing comparisons with A-Trak and Armand’s Duck Sauce Project. Remixes come from Fred Falke and His Majesty Andre.

D. Ramirez has traveled the world as if he was on a covert dance operation. He’s fired off rockets under a bevy of aliases including The Lisa Marie Experience, Cordial, Finger Fest, Rambo, and of course, D. Ramirez. The names are not fads but reflect the artist’s ever-changing musical palette; and it can change on a dime. Although he was credited as the artist who first coined the “electrohouse” sound, Ramirez has seen the genre reach a saturation point. After some serious soul searching and shift to a new studio, Dean emerges with a tough techno and house sound inspired by the production gear he so fondly admires. If you consider his meticulous DJ mixes where loops, tricks and FX are intricately laced with exceptional accuracy or his studio methods where he’s known to tinker with noises for days on end, it’s just a case of simple, logical progression.

They exploded onto the scene in 2008, with a debut album that received heavy praise from The Guardian, Word, Artrocker, NME, Clash, Popjustice, Mixmag, DJ, Radio 1, XFM, and many more, with critics hailing them as the rightful heirs to Underworld, the Chemical Brothers, and Orbital. Remixes for Beyonce, Grand National, Ting Tings, Shinichi Osawa, The Music, Groove Armada, and Tong & Spoon – came thick and fast.

The Japanese Popstars’ live gigs saw them tear up stages at Glastonbury, Fabric, Wireless, Oxegen, Matter, Warehouse Project, and countless others. Their tours have taken them across the UK, Australia, Japan, and beyond, supporting the likes of Justice and Basement Jaxx, and cementing a reputation for a blistering live set.

‘We Just Are (Finalizer)’ was an outright critical favourite from their album. The track is melodic, blissed out electro, but with the bands trademark sound. Currently writing their second album, Decky, Gary, and Gareth, have just finished one of their biggest remixes to date, details of which will be announced very soon.

Due to popular demand, the album, ‘We Just Are’, was reissued on 30th March complete with a second cd of remixes.

In August 2008, Bloc Party generated lots of excitement when they surprised fans during a web chat by announcing their third album, Intimacy, was complete and would be released digitally that month. While receiving critical acclaim for the album and touring the world for the past seven months, the band, always looking toward the future, was crafting Intimacy Remixed. This album elevates Intimacy’s tracks into a musical stratosphere filled with mashes, splices, loops and layers that swirl and fold together in a way that will inspire even the most stubborn wallflower to find a dance floor. Vocalist Kele Okereke’s voice blends seamlessly into the fabric of each song, as each remixer’s individual musical stamp helps transform the original creation into something bold and exciting. Indeed, on Intimacy Remixed, even the empty sonic spaces are just as striking as the chaotic ones.

Album opener “Ares (Villains Remix)” teases with the sliding guitar crunch of the original version over a propulsive, grinding beat complete with zippy synths and handclaps. “Mercury (Hervé is in disarray Remix)” is high energy, intense vocal loops and buzzing synths settle into organized musical chaos, while “Biko (Mogwai Remix)”’s sonic structure is reflective of its heavier lyrical subject, with syncopated beats and electronic blips that punctuate echoing, haunting vocals layered over a labored, pounding rhythm. From the urgency created by the blitz of staccato beeps in “Trojan Horse (John B Remix)” to the pulsing, fuzzy “Signs (Armand Van Helden Remix)” with beats so fast they meld into a solid tone, Intimacy Remixed encompasses everything a remix album should. With the electronic-influenced “One Month Off (Filthy Dukes Remix)”, the rock-tinged “Better Than Heaven (No Age Remix)” and the haze of “Ion Square (Banjo Or Freakout Remix)”, these songs each move in their own musical directions while retaining the melodic spark of the band’s original creations.

Bloc Party will complete a tremendously successful North American tour in the beginning of May and then head back home to the U.K. to prepare for a run of summer tour dates and festivals overseas.

Via the bands’ blog (www.myspace.com/metronomy) Joseph Mount issued a statement explaining Gabriels reasons for the move citing his desire to commit himself fully to his own band, Your Twenties. It’s a supremely amicable shake-up and Metronomy thank Gabriel for many good times and wish him well for the future.

In their new incarnation, Metronomy have enlisted Gbenga Adelekan on bass and Anna Prior on drums turning the already exceptional Metronomy live experience from a laptop looping three piece into a full on live band.

Firing things up for the year ahead, the new line-up will be unveiled this weekend as the band begin a run of UK and European live shows leading through to the summer festivals.

Watch out for the deluxe 2 CD edition ‘Nights Out’ in the summer. The original album will come complete with a bonus CD of all the favourite ‘Nights Out’ single remixes to date plus some of the best remixes by Metronomy, some exclusive brand new material and very special collaborations.

The huge launch party will take place on October 17th in The Egg, London (originally planned for Pacha Beyond).

Due to unforeseen circumstances at Pacha London, the Mixmag Launch party will now be held at the finest clubbing haunt in King’s Cross – The Egg. The event, which will now be spread over four rooms as opposed to two, will have a larger spectrum of DJs and acts performing live and exclusively at the event.

The Egg nightclub has kindly given Mixmag access to hold an event over the whole venue AND also the Apothecary next door, for this unique chapter in Mixmag’s 25 year history.

Being renowned for its legendary carry-on after parties, we are delighted to reveal that the exclusive Mixmag event will be a special 12-HOUR MARATHON!!!
